1) Has anyone seen Adrift in Macao? What did you think?
2) Is there any plan for a CD release?
This looks like a could be a cute Off-Broadway show, and I'm curious to find out if its any good/is going to be preserved in any way.

Posted: 1/31/07 at 11:57amI saw it twice during the Philadelphia run. I enjoyed it immensly. It's a bit silly, but that's sort of the point.

Posted: 1/31/07 at 1:22pmI'm going next month. Can't wait. Sounds like the type of thing that's right up my alley.

Posted: 1/31/07 at 4:39pmI thought it was up my alley too...I'm a big Durang fan. But...yikes! I've seen productions of Medea with more laughs in it than this. One of the most painful evenings of my life. It's like watching a 10th rate Carol Burnett sketch while receiving a root canal.

Posted: 2/21/07 at 6:31pmWell I finally saw it today. I was excited several weeks ago, and now I'm just really disappointed. It was terrible, just terrible. Painfully God awful. What a wasted opportunity.

There's a student rush. They sell it an hour before the show starts for $20 a ticket. I believe you can get two. The seats are whatever is left over, and they release the house seats at about the same time as they start selling the rush, so the seats are great.
As far as the show is concerned I'm not sure that it's supposed to be laugh out loud funny. At least I hope it's not supposed to be, because it's not. I did find it entertaining, and there were a couple of good moments (Will Swenson has a pretty funny song), so I really can't complain for $20. What did puzzle me though was the fact that it's almost identical to the version they showed at New York Stage and Film almost 6 years ago. What have they been doing?

Posted: 5/16/08 at 11:11amI saw a backer's reading with Tom Wopat and I believe it was Cady Huffman. It was vaguely amusing, but I couldn't imagine it would be terribly successful. The score was completely unmemorable.
