After The End question (spoiler included)

Has anyone else seen this? I have an extremely obtuse question (and stop reading now if you haven't seen it and plan to see it).

Overall, I thought it was a fabulous production. But because of Thursday night fatigue, I zoned out on a bit of dialogue at the end, so I was a bit confused. Was there or wasn't there actually a nuclear attack? I couldn't quite catch it, because Louise said something about losing friends and family and laughing at TV reports of suicide bombings where only 60 or so die, but then she talked about doing things with her mother and the guy she liked. So I missed it. Was he in prison just for trying to kill her and the rape, or for kidnapping her when there was actually no attack?
