I LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT! It was seriously some of the most fun I've ever had in a Broadway theatre. My seat was in the rear of the center orchestra, and the view was perfect! Unfortunately, most of the seats behind me were empty, but the small audience was very enthusiastic and expressed how much they enjoyed the show afterwards. The cast was uniformly excellent, and the choreography and physical aspects were dazzling! It's by no means a sophisticated or thought-provoking show, but I was grinning the whole time, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't tear up towards the end.
By all means see it! It was well-worth the $40 price, and I'm looking forward to seeing it again in the near or distant future!

Posted: 11/30/09 at 2:20amI'm glad you loved the show! I was at the first preview sort of by accident (funnily enough, I also tried to get tickets for Ragtime and Hair haha) and it is really a cute, fun show. I thought Mara Davi and Tony Yazbeck were particularly great.

bwaylvsong: [T]he choreography... dazzling!
Has it been changed since last year's run then?

I thought the choreography from last year was great. Randy Skinner is a phenomenal choreographer. And I'm a dancer with picky taste.
And yes...it is the same wonderful choreography.

Posted: 11/30/09 at 10:18amI didn't get to see it last year, but I assume the choreography is mostly the same. I'm by no means an expert on dancing, so what struck me as dazzling might strike someone else as boring and barely average.

Honestly, I think White Christmas is such a great show that echoes back to the "Golden Age" of Broadway. When I saw the show, I felt like I was back in the 1950's seeing such a great show.
I also felt the same way when I saw Curtains for some reason.

I saw the tour in Philly on Friday and really enjoyed it too. It can be a little slow at parts, but overall a great holiday show!
How was Melissa Errico? I wanted to see her in it on Broadway, maybe I'll make a visit to see it there too!

fashionguru_23, I felt the same way about Curtains and I think that was one of the reasons why I loved it so and still enjoy the album. It clearly was in the same vein of some of the musicals from the golden age and that is why I loved it so. I do think, however, that that might have also been a reason others hated it.
As for White Christmas however, that was a show that I did want to see last year but never got around to do so this year. I am not sure I will be able to this year with their bogus student rush policy. I am worried that my college ID might not be good enough for them.

Posted: 11/30/09 at 12:37pmI saw the show two weeks ago and didn't enjoy it as much as I did last year or the previous year when I saw the tour in Boston. The tap dancing is amazing, but I just can't put my finger on why I didn't like it as much. Some of the "zip" seemed to be gone (IMO), and some of the characters are extrememly annoying (snoring man, Ezekiel and the two bimbos in the chorus who weren't even close to being funny). I blame that on the book and direction.

Philly03, Errico was amazing! Her voice fits the style of the music perfectly, though I would have liked to hear her belt more- when she did, it was incredible!
I actually thought the guy who played Ezekiel and Snoring Man stole the show and was hilarious! The little girl and the "bimbos" were clearly written to be somewhat annoying, and I thought those actresses all did very well with what they were given.
Winston, the guy at the BO was very specific that it had to be a college ID, and he closely inspected mine (then again, I don't look old enough to be a college student).
And yes, I absolutely felt like I was watching a show during the Golden Age. It was THAT good!

bwaylvsong, I am aware that it has to be a college ID. However, there was a thread started by someone else about how they tried to do the student rush with their college ID. The end result being that despite the fact that he had a college ID, the person at the box office refused him business because the box office person felt that it wasn't from an accredited school.

Posted: 11/30/09 at 6:09pmYou should be very thankful that Susan Mansur is not associated with White Christmas this year. Her performance as Martha had to be one of the most painful and amateurish performances I have ever seen on a Broadway stage.
