Will Disney bring Hercules to Broadway?

rosscoe(au) said: "Disney has basically become a parody of themselves. Aladdin was a major mess of a show. What made the movie enjoyable was destroyed on stage ( of course no one was ever going to be Robin Williams ) but it came across as a school pantomime.
From what I hear and read from those that have seen it, sadly Hercules is the same.

Hot take, but I saw the Toronto tryout of Aladdin, where his three friends (Babkak, Omar, and Kassim) were narrators, and

David Henry Hwang is revising FLOWER DRUM SONG again for East West Players
 Feb 20 2026, 09:48:22 AM

I highly suggest finding a copy of "Flower Drum Songs: the story of Two Musicals" by David H. Lewis. It is a fascinating and informative read about the creation of the original production, film, revival, and some productions in between.

Prince of Egypt @ LCT
 Feb 17 2026, 08:35:30 AM

Some context is missing here.

Prince of Egypt is playing David Geffin Hall at Lincoln Centre, which is being rented out like the Jeremy Jordan and Laura Benanti concert of Parade, the Ragtime concert with Lea Salonga and Norm Lewis, Titanic concert, Joseph with Noah Gavin, etc.

The Man of La Mancha concert is playing the Beaumount, but is a gala for Lincoln Centre Theatre. This is same as the Camelot concert with Lin Manuel Miranda, which somewhat lead to the revival

AMERICAN CLASSIC tv show

Per the website, this show is about an actor who has a public meltdown and returns home to his family theatre to save it with a production of a classic play.https://press.amazonmgmstudios.com/us/en/mgm-plus-series/american-classic/1

I do wonder if the British playwright, Richard Bean, is okay with his name being used in this show.

You know, I thought this has to be a "somewhat-inspired" version of Slings and Arrows lol

COME FROM AWAY at Papermill

I didn't know it was "basically" the same production as Ogunquit...which is funny, because I thought to myself that the set looked very similar to another production photos I saw, and wondered if it was the same designer.

Have you ever seen a show before it goes to Broadway and feel…

By the same token the rare few times that I get to the city, I always try to see the "flops" or the things that I know will never tour.

I was speaking to a friend about this over the holidays, and the want to revisit shows especially in the subscription world.

For example, Toronto had the North American/Try-out of &Juliet in Summer 2022. Now, we have a Canadian production, which is apart of the subscription. While, I had fun nothing changed between the 2 productions, other than cast. Doesn't mean much. Although, the pre-Broadway Aladdin in Toronto was such a different beast that while I didn't get ove

New WICKED Cast Replacements this month and next?
 Jan 8 2026, 02:41:03 PM

In completely honesty, I have seen Wicked every time the tour came to my city, and the only time I was bored, and thought the show needed better than it had was when Lauren Samuels and Austen Danielle Bohmer were Elphaba and Glinda during Summer 2024. It seemed like it was one of those long, unfunny SNL sketches that needs to be over the moment it started.

Lonny Price directing new DIRTY DANCING stage musical aimed for Broadway
 Jan 6 2026, 09:04:14 AM

I saw the Toronto production back in 2008. It wasn't great. It seemed to be the screenplay on stage. If remember correctly too, the band was small (as someone else pointed out), but I also remember many of the numbers were prerecorded, and there were only a couple that were sung live (including "I Had the Time of My Life". I don't believe either Johnny or baby actually sang.

It was almost a play with music

I believe in the NYT article is says "Wind Beneath my Wings" is in the show. If indeed it isn't, I'm sure

Remember "Give the Tonys back to broadway [from Hollywood]!!" 2010
 Dec 16 2025, 09:12:50 AM

I remember a few things from that year. As a frequent viewer of CUNY TV's Theater Talk (even to this day I rewatch episodes), there was a complaint that there were so many stars on Broadway, but then the next season they wondered where are all the stars were.

2010 was also an incredibly lean year, at least in my opinion. Coming off of 2009, which had some really high points. I remember too Jen Cody (Foster's wife) being vocal, and there being a feeling that they were maki

There is the age-old question of defining a flop and a hit. I would strongly disagree that Ragtime was a flop, but to each their own.

Merrily We Roll Along, to a certain point Follies (the 2012 revival was the first Sondheim show to gross over a million dollars in one week), the 1990's revival of She Loves Me ran longer that the original production by 52 performances.
