Okay, maybe I didn't fully "get it", but who was the father of Agnes's baby? I just watched the movie, and have seen scenes from the play in directing class.

Its left to your opinion...Was it the priest, the farmhand or a miracle. In the play Dr also says that she stopped smoking, and began having her mensturation again. Leaving the audience to believe that a miracle has happened.

In the play, during what probably was the closing monologue, didn't the Dr. say that Agnes went to an institution or somewhere and she died?

The paternity of the baby is left deliberately ambiguous. The farmhand? God? Who knows.

She died because I believe she says that she stopped eating.
