Got a survey today asking for thoughts on shows I might want to see for the next season and some of the "possibilities" listed were:"The Addams Family"; "Bring It On"; "The Scottsboro Boys"; "Anything Goes"; "Fela" (was on the list last year); "Million Dollar Quartet" (also on list last year); "War Horse"; "Memphis" (on list last year); "The Merchant of Venice" with Al Pacino as Shylock; "Spider Man: Turn Off the Dark" (Surely they gest!); "American Idiot"; "a new Broadway-bound production of "Funny Girl"; "City of Angels"; Matthew Bourne's "Cinderella" and "La Cage Aux Folles". I'm okay with any of these except for Spidey; my #1 choice was "The Scottsboro Boys"!
So much for the survey that Center Theatre Group sent with plays that they might have for the next season. 4 of them are in the Broadway L.A. 2011-2012 season. Looking at what's left doesn't give me a lot of reason to believe that it will be a good season. As Madame Morrible says in "Wicked"--returning to the Pantages :) I hope they prove me wrong but I think they won't!
