Aida tour video

I stumbled upon this on youtube, and the tour production looks so different to me. Was a lot changed for the tour or is my recall of the original production really foggy.

"If we don't live happily ever after at least we survive until the end of the week!" -Kermit the frog "I need the money... it costs a lot to look this cheap!" -Dolly P. "Oh please, Over at 'Gypsy' Patti LuPone hasn't even alienated her first daughter yet!" Mary Testa in "Xanadu" "...Like a drunk Chita Rivera!" Robin de Jesus in "In the Heights"

"B*tch, I don't know your life." -Xanadu After that if he still doesn't understand why you were uncomfortable and are now infuriated, kick him again but this time with Jazz Hands!!! -KillerTofu

If you search, there are a few threads about the AIDA tour. A lot of people have posted a lot of valuable information (positives and negatives) in there, as well as a lot of reviews. Check it out.

re: Aida tour video

The tour is not produced by Disney, so the staging is original.

Who is the Aida and Radames?
"Chicago is it's own incredible theater town right there smack down in the middle of the heartland. What a great city! I can see why Oprah likes to live there!" - Dee Hoty :-D

re: Aida tour video

Personally, I like they way they staged it for that tour than they did for the original broadway show.

re: Aida tour video

I like the changes in the color palate of the show. NOt quite as bright as the Broadway production but it worked for me. Didn't understand the dancerboy costumes, and the simulated sex dance scene, but that is OK. I really did like the stageing from what I could see on the video.

save your money and just wait for Disney to start another tour or revie this one...this tour was terrible

re: Aida tour video

I wonder if the concept is that the whole show takes place in the Museum. That would explain the modern costumes. While at first it would seem like a cool Idea, I think it takes away the impact of the final moment of the broadway staging when we return to the museum and see Radames and aida get together.
Anyway, the video looks well produced and seems to have shown the best parts of what has been a terribly reviewed show here on BroadwayWorld.
Other than that, did you enjoy the play Mrs Lincoln?

For anyone who has sincere interest in what real reviews have to say about the show, just google the aida tour or go to their website (www.theaidatour.com). There plenty of positive reviews abound. I even saw how this particular production of "Aida" extremely boosted ticket sales for the upcoming season for the Broadway series in Dayton. Don't believe the theatre fanatic hype. This tour is quite good.
