This may be just a titch off topic...but when was the last time an actor or actress was nominated for an Oscar, Tony and Emmy in the same year?

Talk about a late-career resurgence!

Good for Hawkeye!!

I don't know the answer to your question, but want to echo your kudos to Mr. Alda. I loved him on M*A*S*H back in the "old days", and still do.

Alda is such a likable actor and I enjoy him, but he always is just Alan Alda. I have never seen him become another character. Always competent, always watchable, always Alda.

PEACE.

Bob Fosse won a directing Oscar, Emmy and Tony all in the same year. I'm at a loss to think of another acting triple crown, even with nominations.

Ellen Burstyn won a Tony and an Oscar in the same year.

I'll bet Margo has some other information

Fosse is the only one (winning for Cabaret, Pippin for the Tony and the Emmy for Liza with a Z. There were two others nominated for all three in one year.

Jason Robards in 1978 for Julia, A Touch of the Poet
and Washington,Behind Closed Doors. He only got the Oscar.

Paul Newman in 2003 got an Oscar nomination for The Road to Perdition and a Tony and Emmy nomination for the Stage Manager role in Our Town.

I don't necessarily agree. I thought his role in 'Glengarry' was a departure for him. He exposes a streak of vulnerability and desperation I had not seen in any of his performances before. I was quite moved
