re: Alan Rickman says he's in Sweeney Todd

**** SPOILER ******

If Sweeney and Lucy were in their early twenties when they got married, and Sweeney has been away fifteen years, the Beggar Woman would only be approaching forty at the time of the musical's present-day action. Of course she would look older and more haggard because of the life she'd led, which is why Sweeney doesn't recognize her immediately. I always thought any movie producer would have to cast a young actress as "flashback" Lucy and then bury her under tons of aging makeup for the Beggar Woman (which might or might not fool the audience.) I also thought this would be an excellent chance for star stunt casting (Gwyneth Paltrow? Nicole Kidman?)
I ask in all honesty/What would life be?/Without a song and a dance, what are we?/So I say "Thank you for the music/For giving it to me."

Someone on the imdb boards keeps claiming that an unknown named Jane Wisener is playing Johanna.
"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter

Last I read, Laura Michelle Kelly has been cast as flashback Lucy.
"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"

And speaking of Depp

"JOHNNY DEPP is terrifying his longterm partner VANESSA PARADIS by going to extreme lengths to get into his new role as Demon Barber SWEENEY TODD. Depp starts rehearsals for the film adaptation of STEPHEN SONDHEIM's musical in London next month (JAN07), but he's preparing for the part already by slitting imaginary throats to the soundtrack of DIES IRAE (DAY OF WRATH) - the 13th century Latin Hymn traditionally used in the Roman Catholic Requiem Mass. A source tells British newspaper the Daily Express, "Johnny is always very conscientious in his roles. Now he says he has to get into the mind set of a serial killer. He wants to feel adept with the razor blades, to feel as if they were an extension of his arm. "But he's terrifying everyone by walking around his home booming out the song - making an arc with his arm when he slits a person's throat. "Sweeney calls his razors his 'friends' and in this song the Demon Barber pours out his love to his blades."
"

Heh heh heh. Veerrry good.

I heard LMK is flashback Lucy as well.

I actually wanted George Hearn to play Turpin but THIS IS FANTASTIC! The only casting I'm happy about!

LMK is 24 OR 26...so she's about 20 years younger than Depp.

How to properly use its/it's: Its is the possessive. It's is the contraction for it is...

I was gonna say that they better cast someone who's not a total bore as Anthony because I'd bang Alan Rickman way before, say, Jesse McCartney.

Just for the heck of it,I told my older sister "Snape's going to be in a musical," because we're both pretty big Harry Potter fans. She burst out laughing.

I think it's awesome that Alan Rickman is going to play the Judge. I'm seriously excited about the movie so far (sans any judgement of anyone's singing abilities until I actually hear actual proof of their ability). And...

"DEPP SCARING PARADIS WITH SWEENEY TODD METHOD ACTING"

I don't know whether I should laugh at this or be scared. Heh.
Bow before the cuteness of my cousin!!! ;]

That's AWESOME about Johnny.

It wouldn't make any sense to cast Laura Michelle Kelly as the flashback Lucy, because she doesn't sing...
Jimmy, what are you doing here in the middle of the night? It's almost 9 PM!

re: Alan Rickman says he's in Sweeney Todd

I've only seen Rickman in the Harry Potter movies and Love Actually, but he is brilliant. I also heard a recording of him reciting one of Shakespeare's sonnets. I love his voice!
