"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.
That clip of her in The Ten Commandments musical is impressive.

I have horrible insomnia right now and am totally watching the "Golden Girls" episode where Alisan plays Blanche's granddaughter, who doesn't want to do the pageant.
yep- i don't know if the sadder part is the fact that I knew that was her, or the fact that this is an actual conversation I had with one of my gays, in front of A Chorus Line:
-Yeah, she was in, I mean when she was a kid and all, did you ever see this movie called Curly Sue? -No. -Well, she was the lead in that. Or how about this older movie called Parenthood? It had Steve Martin and Keanu and a bunch of people, anyway she played one of the kids. -Nope. -Oh, ok, how about, you remember the Golden Girls episode where Blanche's granddaughter comes to vist? And Blanche won't let her call her Grandma? And then she puts the grandaughter in the pageant? - Oh yeah, and then she's too scared when she's onstage and doesn't do her dance? I totally remember that one. So that's Alisan Porter huh? -Yep
