Posted: 9/25/05 at 11:51pmim soo sad that it closed. i saw it in NY in previews because i like elvis and didn't think much of it. Boy was i wrong i loved every second of it and i wish it could've lasted atleast a year and a half. Seriously the best jukebox musical ever!

It was a terrific performance and a very emotional one at that. I thought that Cheyenne Jackson wouldn't be able to sing through Burning Love: he was emotional in the beginning and I saw him wipe off his tears twice. But he seemed to manage to compose himself and was really into it by the middle of Burning Love and the finale.
Also saw the cast at the Katrina Benefit Concert at the Gershwin. That's awesome that they still went out and shared their talents for a good cause despite their show closing today.
To my surprise, I really liked All Shook Up, and I think it's largely because I'm not familiar with the Elvis songbook. So the songs (except the extremely popular ones, e.g., Blue Suede Shoes, Jaihouse Rock) were practically new to me and accordingly, to me at least, it didn't sound as if the songs were forced into the book of a musical. In other words, I felt the musical worked. In contrast, I always stifled a laugh, when I saw Mamma Mia, every time a song number came on because I know the ABBA songs fairly well. And the ABBA songs, I feel, simply do not work in a book musical. (Chiquitita, anyone?) And don't even get me started about its plot. AND it still kills me that Ben Brantley raved that musical (but that's another topic altogether). But I can understand Elvis fans who may feel the same way I do about Mamma Mia with respect to All Shook Up.
All in all, I had a really fun, and to echo Cheyenne, whom I first saw in the NYMF mounting of Altar Boyz, yet bittersweet experience at today's closing.
Congrats to the talented cast members such as Jenn Gambatese, Curtis Holbrook (that boy can dance!) and Nikki James, just to name a few. All Shook Up may be no Carousel, Marie Christine or Light in the Piazza, but I still find it a shame that such a fun show closed too soon. I was hoping it would stick around because I really wanted my mom to see it when she comes to visit me in October.
At any rate, congrats All Shook Up! You did a terrific closing show, and best of luck to the cast, crew and creative team in your future endeavors!!!

Another little funny moment, to make such a wondeful and sad night unique in even more ways:
Chad: "So Natalie- also known as Ed- will you do me the honor of marryin' me?"
Natalie: "Oh Chad!.. No. You see I met this great guy."
Chad: "Yeah. Me."
Natalie: "No. Ed. He-"
Random Lady in the Audience: "Whaaaat?"
Natalie: "He was [to audience] SO STRONG."
And a very sweet moment, Alix Korey giving Curtis a big hug after Devil in Disguise, right before the bus came.

I was there also. great time. i'm gonna miss it so much.
i love how they added all the orgy stuff in haha.
The audience went crazy when Jenn did the "Workin on an engine" part and then Cheyenne and his "...my engine go purrrrrrrrrrr"
haha

Aside from Jenn in TARZAN and Cheyenne's TALE OF TWO CITIES workshop, does anyone else know what the other leads will be doing now? Anyone know if Mark Price will be in anything?
I almost started tearing up again this morning thinking about yesterday!

Posted: 9/26/05 at 9:58amOverall I liked this far better than "Mamma Mia". For some reason or other the audiences just didn't come to this. Glad I could make the final performance. The energy was just phenonminal.

Posted: 9/26/05 at 11:02amWow, I just woke up feeling so drained, it's like a chapter of my life has ended. I feel the way you do at the end of a summer at camp, you are saying goodbye to all your friends, these wonderful people you have gotten to know and spent so much time with, and thinking about all the great times you shared, and have no idea if and when you will see them again. *tear*

i was there also, and it was so amazing. I tried so hard to not cry, but when they got to that scene at the end, and when Cheyenne, Alix, Leah, Jenn, Mark, Nikki were all getting emotional, i lost it. It was so sad to see. I completely agree with Cheyenne that the last show was bittersweet. This show was so fantastic and it will be truly missed. I can't wait to see what the cast is up to next.
Also it was so nice for all of the cast except for sharon to come out and sign and take pictures with everyone. very sweet of them to do.

I'm definitely in mourning. Going to go home and watch the video after work tonight.
Still not the same as being there live seeing it, and talking to everyone afterwards.

so, my mom surprised me w/ tix to the show yesterday! (my 3rd time) it was amazing as usual! my fav was when leah forgot her line "...ANYONE?!" i was glad that the whole cast came out the stage door (minus sharon
) they were so nice and i got a pic w/ all of them! i'm really going to miss that show!
oh, i was up in the balcony, and these two girls and a boy were running all over w/ their mcdonalds food being totally obnoxious and yelling the songs! next thing i know before the show starts they moved down to the mezzanine (the one girl was complaining that she was too high up blah blah blah) after moving like 4 times so people could sit in the seats THAT THEY PAID FOR, they settled down and ate their food LOUDLY, might i add. then during the show they were running around the theater, into box seats, out of box seats. then i saw them in the orchestra, and finally back in the mezzanine! HOW RUDE CAN PEOPLE GET!?!?! i wanted to punch these kid's teeth out!!
other than those people, i had a blast of course! IM SO SAD THAT IT'S OVERRRRRR! NOOOOOO

I had a huge fight with my family over going to the show. It got me so upset, I wanted to kick them. I didnt get to go. But I did have the opporunity last week to go before it closed. I then went back to the stage door after Bway on Bway and got to talk to Cheyenne, Nikki, Leah, Julie and Mark. It really seemed like they loved doing this show, god knows it was an awesome show. It is not anything socially important, but it was a good time, that I'd never give up. I just wanna say Rich- the stage door guy was awesome, when I went to the door after Bway on Bway he was showing me and this girl his digital camera, it was hilarious. Cheyenne n Nikki n Julie for remembering me... I am so sad for you guys... Mark n Leah for just being hilarious.
IM NOT FULL OF BUNK- I STILL LOVE ALL SHOOK UP!

Posted: 9/27/05 at 10:09amAnyone see the commercial on tv now about the new Matthew McConaghey movie (no idea what it's called- it's about gambling I think). IN the scene with him in Times Square, you can see the original ASU billboard in the background (the big yellow one before Cheyenne's). Sad.
