All Shook Up's last show :(

Just got home from ASU's final show. It was so sad, I just cried (along with much of the cast) through the whole thing.
They gave it their all today, and the audience cheered them on the entire show.

I love you ASU!! Good luck to everyone in all your future endeavors!!!

(I'll post a more detailed review in a little while)

re: All Shook Up's last show :(

OMG, I don't even know where to start. Every song was followed by a huge round of applause, which was awesome.
Jenn was only a little teary in Love me tender, and at the beginning of Heartbreak Hotel, Sharon couldn't remember half her lines and kinda improvised. The cast sounded great.
Roustabout was fine, Cheyenne didn't break character too much today (but did get a little weepy at the end). One night with you was great, Cmon Everybody was so high energy (Michelle Kittrell had a magenta thong under her dress which was flashed to the audience). It's Now or Never brought tears to Nikki's eyes (tomorrow will be too late...) and that's when I started crying. Everything up to Let Yourself Go was like normal. Leah got a teary in LYG, and by the time the cast sang Can't Help Falling In Love, most of the girls and a few of the guys had tears running down their faces.
All Shook Up was great, It hurts me was so heartfelt, Conversation- Jenn wiped away the tears and sang the crap out of the song. Power of my Love was normal (Leah kissed the horse). In I Don't Want To, when Cheyenne says I meant Miss Sandra, right? About 100 people responded Right! immediately, and he started to laugh a bit. Jailhouse Rock was a powerhouse, the whole audience was clapping along. There's always me, Sharon belted the sh*t out of it and got thunderous applause. If I can Dream sounded great as always. NOW- the revelation scene/ can't help falling in love reprise- Alix started crying, Leah was crying so hard and couldn't remember her lines, asked for someone on stage to help her out, and then could barely get them out. Jenn was crying a lot in Fools Fall In Love but maintained a strong voice throughout the whole thing. And burning love was high energy, the cast threw their all into it and left the stage smiling. Huge standing ovation immediately for the entire cast, everyone sang along and danced with the finale. More thunderous applause and cheering from the audience at the end. Cheyenne took a minute to thank everyone for all their support, spoke about how wonderful everyone was, etc. (I might or someone else might have a better transcript of his speech later).

Stagedoor was mobbed, so many people everywhere. Almost everyone came out to sign autographs and say goodbye, lots of tears and hugs.

It was a great show, and I will definitely miss it!!

The key to the mystery of a great artist is that for reasons unknown, he will give away his energies and his life just to make sure that one note follows another... and leaves us with the feeling that something is right in the world. ~Leonard Bernstein~

Oh, and at the end when Leah finally said her line about Shakespeares 17th sonnet, and Mark says 18th sonnet, they were both like, it's a very sad sonnet and we both crying. That revelation scene was just so sad, watching everyone trying not to cry and wiping away tears. Oy.

Did Michelle Kitrell return for the final show? I thought she went back to Hairspray (according to their website).

And another show bites the dust. This is so depressing. Sounds like the cast had an excellent last show though.

re: All Shook Up's last show :(

I saw it yesterday, and really wished I got tickets for today too... *sigh*

I'm glad it was great, even yesterday the cast was saying it was getting hard to perform because it was so sad that the show was going to be gone...

It was the most unbelievable show I've ever seen. So incrediblely powerful. Lots of tears. I'm going to miss this show so much. Liotte pretty much sums everything up.

re: All Shook Up's last show :(

I was there today, and it was so sad, but the show was unbelievably amazing. I'm trying to think of some good moments...

When Cheyenne points to Sharon after he says "...unsatisfied women," she made a gesture to bite his finger off. She got a lot of applause for that.

Alix added some really high notes to "Devil in Disguise." She completely blew me away. I think I literally said "Woah!" aloud.

What else? Um. To add to what Liotte said: During the Reprise, everyone was crying. Literally. Mark and Leah were crying the hardest, I think. Leah came up and started crying, then laughed, then the audience cheered and applauded. So she asked "Is that the sad poem that I was given?" Mark replied with "Yes, it's really sad." Leah also couldn't get out "You live in this town and you appreciate Shakespeare?" So she just looked around and asked "Anyone?" Jenn helped her out, partially in tears. When Cheyenne made his speech ("I meant what I said about this town, folks."), he was crying, which I think got to me more than anything. Actually, seeing Justin Patterson cry was the worst, but hearing Cheyenne's voice like that...gah. So emotional.

Cheyenne's little speech at the end didn't make me cry as much as I thought it would. I won't forget this quote, though: "It's more bitter than sweet, though." Just knowing why the show closed so early...yeah, definitely more bitter. He talked about how they really were like a family (which is so obvious), and he thanked everyone. Some of the former cast members came on stage- Anika Larsen, Virginia Woodruff, Justin Brill (I think). Stephen Oremus also came on stage.

The audience was just amazing. Everyone got entrance applause. Every number was received with so much enthusiasm and love. I'm going to miss this show -and especially the cast- so much.

A lot more happened, I'm just still really emotional from tonight. I'll post as I remember, if anyone wants to know more.

Broadwayguy: I completely agree about Rich and Pecas. They're awesome. I'm just glad they'll be there again, for whatever show inhabits the Palace next.
