The great thing is whenever you need a fix of your favorite show, its there for you whenever you want. This is also the perfect way to discover understudy's performance you missed, etc.
Earlier this week I watched the original Broadway cast of CAROLINE, OR CHANGE with a friend from Argentina and last night I watched IN THE HEIGHTS' Olga Merediz as Rosie in MAMMA MIA!
Where ELSE could this be possible?

For ALL the obvious reasons, I'm being dead serious.
I'm a huge supporter of bootlegs as these are the public's last resort to capturing a show in 'live' performance. Even when the Lincoln Center Archives chooses to 'film' a show for archival purposes, alot of times its already with a cast change and not the entire original cast. This is the case with the original Broadway production of DREAMGIRLS (the FINAL cast was filmed, not the original) and most recently with XANADU.
Ironically, the ONLY surviving footage of an entire performance of DREAMGIRLS with the original Broadway cast comes via a camcorder bootleg and is considered the Holy Grail of that show. Even Beyonce' Knowles first exposure to DREAMGIRLS (at the age of 14) was via this video since it wasn't preserved by anyone officially associated with the show.
I'm not the only one who appreciates this but so do the actors who are in these shows and don't have any personal record of their performance, etc. You'd be quite suprised with my "Who's Who" list of actors I've supplied with copies of their shows.

I think when a show closes it should be recorded and released on dvd just so ppl who can't make it to Broadway can at least see it! Even if it's not the OBC. I think with all the Broadway fans out there it would make money. And usually when they do adaptations for a feature film its not like a live performance. They are so much better.
