Hi Everyone,
I'm searching for an all women short play, one act or nothing over 40 minutes that would be good to put up at an all women's college as part of a performing arts night. I'm having the toughest time finding something. The director would like it to be classical and such.. not modern. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I watched recently a very interesting version of "Celestina" by Fernando de Rojas played by an all female cast who played all the parts of the play (male and female) in turns. The 7 actresses were supposed to be Nuns who discovered a copy of De Rojas' book in the basements of their convent. Just for the history "Celestina" (or the tragedy of Callisto and Melibea), written in the 15th Century, is the play on which Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet" was based and also one of the most imprortant plays of the spanish literature.
Well, if the director is willing to look at a modern piece, "The Most Massive Woman Wins" is a great one-act that deals with body image. There are roles for 4 women. We did it at my college last year.
