As a passionate theater-goer and deeply concerned citizen, I was fascinated by last night's staged reading at Town Hall. I've been waiting for American theater (and all other) artists to direct their talents and resources to address the horrific developments under GOP control since inauguration day. This was exactly the kind of artistic response to our realities that I'd hoped for, crafted from the actual transcribed committee hearing interviews of Trump's cabinet nominees, performed by some of our leading actors.

There were more surprises for me than I'd expected, not realizing that Marco Rubio (very well-played by Raul Esparza) could show even momentary (and fleeting) integrity, or exactly how venal, self-serving and appalling Rex Tillerson, Tom Price, Scott Pruitt and Jeff Session were shown to be, or that Dianne Feinstein demonstrated such spine.

Of course, it was beyond appalling to see how profoundly unmotivated the four nominees were (and assumedly, are) to marshal their resources and power to serve in the public good. The most lacerating interrogations of the committee members appeared never to have had a chance to influence the outcomes of these 4 disturbing cabinet nominees, all of whom would be confirmed.

Feinstein had the final words, a cry of righteous indignation that Jeff Sessions would be seen as a solid, independent leader of the Dept. of Justice under a President Trump.

God I'd love for this to have been filmed, properly and released to a wider audience.

It was a galvanizing event for whatever sized crowd fills the sold-out Town Hall, but I agree there should be opportunities developed for this to have a wider audience.

Politics aside (or I'll cry), the evening was a great reminder that we need Raul Esparza back on stage ASAP. What a talent!
