Allergies!

Yuck, it's that time of year again. Early spring/late summer is when I get allergies in a bad way.

Anyone else suffering?

Oh God, my allergies are killing me. I'm afraid it's going to get me sick, because sometimes they get so bad that they become a sort of perpetual sinus infection. My classmates think I'm sick al the time. I haven't had allergy shots in a few months, and I've been getting them since I was like five, so that's adding to the suffering, but I have an appointment to start them up again tomorrow.

What's a neti pot? I get sick every winter -- it's usually just one bit of bad allergy time that turns into a cold, that turns into a sinus infection, disappears for a few weeks and relapses until I take strong antibiotics. It's terrible; gets in the way of school and everything. Last year I was violently ill for like three weeks.

mine are going nuts right now. people say spring is the worst time of year, but for me it's fall. i'm very sinus-y this time of year. i take the liquid benedryl for it since the liquid works faster.
i get sinus infections in the winter but since i can't take antibiotics i just live with it.

Benadryl makes me incredibly sleepy, so I only use it when I absolutely have to. Plus, I use it for food allergy reactions, so I don't want to overuse it.

I'm on Clarinex. I'm pretty much dependent on it; if I skip one day, I'm a misery.

Neither did Cherry Jones, who popped an Extended Tab of Claritin and then forgot her lines!

It's really awful isn't it? It can feel akin to a cold or flu, but when you say "allergies" people tend to dismiss it.

Allergies suck. I skipped my first class of the semester Tuesday because I was so miserable. My allergies almost always lead to sinus infections and I get allergy shiners as well, so I've been walking around looking like I have black eyes all week.

I used to have that, but the Allergra didn't really help me. Now I take Deconamine, which is like comparing Children's Tylenol to Vicodin.

Funniest thing about allergies: You understand the importance of a quality tissue. Those single-ply no-name bulk brands they had back in school could never cut it for me, I had to have my own box of Kleenex with lotion with me.

Deconamine? Why have I never heard of this? My parents are doctors, for God's sake!

Love4Cheno, Deconamine is an antihistimine with the added bonus of decongestant and relieves sinus problems. I'd never heard of it either, but when I kept getting sinus infections with Allegra, my doctor recommended it.

It basically provides longterm antihistimine, as well as providing immediate relief of symptoms. It does make you really drowsy though, so until my doctor knew I could handle it, she didn't want me taking it in the daytime.

I have miserable allergies. I take Zyrtec, and it doesn't seem to be doing much of anything except making me really tired. I get really bad headaches from them, and I just can't breathe. On top of that, I feel like I'm getting sick.
