She was really one of the main highlights for me as well....one of the only cast members who really seems to get the John Waters humor in the piece (the other being Hanke)....I LOVED "Screw Loose" and its the main reason I am hoping for a cast recording (okay, I did actually enjoy a couple of the other songs as well)......I wish we had some news soon about a recording deal!!!
I had heard she was the only really descent thing about the production and with all the hype around her, I was prepared to be disapointed, however, Alli Mauzey gave one of the funniest performances that I have seen this season. I kind wish that she could have gotten a Tony nom, but I am sure that we will be seeing much more of her.
When I saw the musical in La Jolla, I raally liked it and I assumed that they would find new leads for the show to match Alli's talent. I honestly felt at the time that this show was just a little work and a new lead away from being a major hit. It was quite clear to me,that if she stood out so much then the others needed to stronger characters.
Why was she not nominated for a tony? That's the one nom I thought Cry baby was going to get...

She is the only reason I want to see Cry-Baby. Alli's always been so talented and genuinely the nicest person. I used to have some super old, pre-Equity video of her, but I don't know where it went.
I'm really glad to see her getting all this good buzz. Even if it is in a less than stellar show.
A couple of years ago she played Mallory in City of Angels for Reprise in LA. Her "Lost and Found" was wonderful but, disappointingly, she wasn't naked under that sheet.
She is just wonderful! Her performance is musical comedy at its best. I was suprised she did not get a nomination. She will springboard to many great things from her performance is CRY-BABY. We will def see more of her.
Although I do disagree with those who say her and Hanke were the only good things and everybody else was not up to there standard. They were great but their roles are mean to steal the show. Not everyone can be the outrageous comic relief.
I went to see Cry-Baby yesterday. I took my tiny mp3 player with me which also allows recording, and I couldn't resist recording Alli's "Screw Loose". If anyone wants the mp3 PM me your email address and I'll send it to you.
She'll be a great Penny replacement in HAIRSPRAY once CRY-BABY flops.

"I have also met him in person, and I find him to be quite funny actually. Arrogant and often misinformed, but still funny."
