Posted: 6/22/06 at 10:00pmI was listening to "As We Stumble Along" in my car today and I thought of Alma Cuervo possibly playing the Drowsy Chaperone sometime in the future. What do you guys think?

She was Mrs. Strauss in Titanic right?....
IF it is who i think it is then yes. But Beth needs to stay in for life.

she may be a little old for the part, but i'm in for that. I saw her in "Wicked" and loved her singing.
Really though, i hope Beth stays with Drowsy for a looonngg time.

Posted: 6/22/06 at 11:28pmJonartdesigns, you don't like Carol Kane as Morrible? I actually prefered her to Carole Shelley. Kane gave it another level that Shelley couldn't. I haven't seen the other two you mention.

Carole Shelley is one of THE most gifted actresses alive and, while Wicked was not the vehicle to let her truly shine, I thought her Madame Morrible was perfection. She took a very understated role and brought to it grace, regality, ferocity, and a delicious sense of evil. Just my opinion, though.

Cuervo will stay with Wicked until she thinks she gets a better offer. She walked out on a production of Shirley Valentine at Syraucse Stage one week before the opening to take the job in Titanic

Posted: 6/23/06 at 12:42amI saw Cuervo two other times besides Wicked. Although I don't think she is considered one of the "bigger names" like Sutton Foster, Norbert Leo Butz, and Idina Menzel, she is a wonderful talent!

jonartdesigns - so nice to see someone else who enjoyed Adinah's Morrible! I thought she was the best by far of the three I saw.
