Altar Boyz Love Thread

I looked for one and could not find it, and I thought that it definitely deserves one.

I just saw it today and absolutely loved it ! Great book, great songs, great cast ! I laughed pretty much from beginning to end. I rate it right up there with The Producers (you can go ahead and shoot me now).

Right up there with THE PRODUCERS, huh?

Oh well, I guess I'll just be grateful you didn't say "right up there with KING LEAR" or "right up there with GYPSY" ......

It's a lot of fun, thoroughly enjoyable, but really....

I guess I should have qualified it: it's right up there with The Producers in terms of how funny and enjoyable it is. King Lear is nowhere near as funny re: Altar Boyz Love Thread

re: Altar Boyz Love Thread

Do you mean Mark ?

The Mark in your YouTube clip is great, but the rest of the cast is not as good as the one here. The NY cast has a lot of chemistry together.

Oh yeah, I mean MARK actually!!! I was too impressed by Luke since he asked me to hold his hand when he went down stage yesterday. Anyway, I agree that NY cast had great teamwork. However, I wanna go see Danny Calvert in person. Seems like he has no specific performance recently... Anyone knows??

re: Altar Boyz Love Thread

I've seen the show four times, thrice in NYC (including one preview), and once on tour in New Haven. It's held up very well, which speaks to the quality of the material. Seeing it on tour was an interesting experience. The crowd was definitely older, and I was curious to see how well the material would go over. Though it did take a little while, the crowd was won over, and was as enthusiastic in their ovation as an NYC crowd I've seen.

The NY cast is awesome and definitely has fantastic chemistry. I really enjoyed the show last week. I will definitely see it again! And I can't get the songs out of my head!

I heard "The Calling" on Sirius this weekend and marveled it hasn't been done more.

re: Altar Boyz Love Thread

I forgot to mention that they had an understudy, Tim Dolan, in the role of Abraham and he was excellent ! But, is he really Irish ? A more typical Jewish-looking boy is hard to imagine.
