I know that Robert Fairchild was out last Wednesday evening. Now on the American in Paris website it says that Garen Scribner will appear for Robert Fairchild at certain performances. I would like to know if anyone is aware if Robert Fairchild will be out this Wednesday Evening, June 24th, performance as well. Will this be the new normal of there being an alternate on Wednesday evenings or will the alternate go on for different performances through out the week? I have tickets to AAIP for a Wednesday evening in two weeks and would like to know if I'm going to see Fairchild or not. I would really like to see the show with him in it. I know there have been different opinions about him but I would like to judge for myself. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

According to another website Fairchild is out tonight. Second Wednesday evening performance in a row. This may be his night off from now on. If you want to see him the show, maybe it's best to stay away from Wednesday night.

Yes I think this is the new thing, as he had not missed a performance until last week as far as I know.
You should try to exchange your ticket. I wonder if they'll let you.

According to Playbill Vault, Garen Scribner and Nathan Madden are the understudies for the role of Jerry Mulligan.

Garnett Scribner is the scheduled alternate.

Do we know if Wednesday night is a definite? I am looking to get tickets for the Wednesday, July 22nd MATINEE and I really want to see Fairchild.

I saw AAiP yesterday, at the matinee (with Fairchild, who was WONDERFUL), and the Playbill had Scribner listed as the alternate for Weds. Evening only.

Some savvy theater friends (though not dance aficianados) from out of town went Wed. eve (7/1) and loved Scribner, everything about his performance. They had small issues with the show, particularly its resolution, but adored him. If he picks up an additional performance in the months ahead, inevitably, not bad news. The show needs alternates, good ones. I remember how many people said they couldn't image "Beautiful" without Mueller. Ultimately, most people who see "Beautiful" will never see Mueller. That's theater, and that's especially true of long runs.

That's good to hear. I saw his first performance and despite obvious nerves, he did quite well. I can only imagine he will continue to improve.
EDIT: I just noticed that as of tonight, the playbill also lists Sara Esty as an alternate for Lise (Leanne Cope), but does not have a specific day.
