Alvin Ailey is great subject matter for a biopic, and it would be a great fit for Barry Jenkins (Oscar-winning director of MOONLIGHT and IF BEALE STREET COULD TALK).
While primarily known for his eponymous dance company, Ailey appeared in four Broadway shows and choreographed the one-performance-wonder La Strada.

This is actually a bit of a shock as this was originally announced in 2019 and then went dormant. Good to know it's alive.
