Some dates are already onsale via Ticketmaster, some go on sale later today, but it doesn't seem there's been a press release...a funny way to roll this out!

Good for Hugh continuing to return to smaller-scale theatre.

Local press being such a big part of a touring play’s ad plan, seems like they need a star with some name value. Like a 90s/2000s SNL lady who hasn’t done much lately. A Cheri Oteri type.

And the show recouped 15 months ago. There is money in the bank. They can afford to hire a lesser name like JCM if they think there’s a bigger name in the wings. 

Emma Thompson might be my dream British Mary. But I've always heard over the years that she has no interest in doing a run of a full production on stage (though other stars have also said that and changed their minds).

I’ve never seen Melissa demonstrate comedic chops, and from what I’ve seen she’s a stronger actor and dancer than singer. So it’s rather bizarre casting. Lot of different comedy and acting styles in this now (and personalities) for a green director to navigate.

Maybe it’ll surprise but my expectations are low.

I don't think there's any minimum amount of score needed to qualify, right? If a play has an original score, it will be a contender. I would assume 5 nominees unless we hear otherwise.

They could do a lot worse than Duncan Macmillan and Dominic Cooke...

In any other year, Carrie, Leslie, or Laurie would be front runner. I think Lesley has the edge, and Laurie will also have a shot in Featured for Salesman.

As for the other two ladies in the category, it’s anyone’s guess - tho if they love LIBERATION and that’s the best play frontrunner, it would be silly to overlook Flood.

I left Marjorie Prime thinking everyone in it should be placed in Featured.

Wish I could go, very curious to see how this plays in a non-replica production.

I somehow managed to see this a second time right before it closed, and IMHO it's one of the great productions of the past decade. Absolutely riveting adaptation, acting, and directing from start to finish. Give it awards and maybe even adapt it into a feature film.

That’s a big house for Raul to fill single-handedly in his first Broadway show since LEAP OF FAITH. Especially with a fall opening.

Several demos are here and they are lovely. Reminds me a bit of the pastiche parts of MAYBE HAPPY ENDING.

It got a rave from Laura Collins-Hughes in the NYT for its York Theatre production pre-Covid.

The author, Mark Sonnenblick, is likely to win an Oscar for “Golden” from KPOP DEMON HUNTERS, and is also the new co-lyricist on the London DEVIL WEARS PRADA. Here he’s written the book, music and lyrics.
