BEACHES Previews
 Apr 20 2026, 11:01:52 AM

ACL2006 said: "Do they announce a closing next Monday?"

It’s such a thin year for the Tonys that I kind of expect them to hold out til May 5. I don’t think a Best Musical nom is likely - and certainly not deserved! - but it could happen and sometimes producers have their blinders on.

Unless they truly have NO money in the bank.

For the sake of their box office they should hope that they don’t get a nom, because then it

THE LOST BOYS Previews

rosscoe(au) said: "This preview period seems like it has gone on forever."

That’s how I feel after seeing the third or fourth preview of BEACHES, which began the same night as this but opens four days earlier,

I believe SALESMAN is the only preview period of the season that lasted more than a month.

Quite the rave reviews!!!

New Reading of TWO GENTLEMAN OF VERONA (Guare/MacDermot), directed by Alex Timbers
 Apr 18 2026, 12:40:24 PM

Interesting! Wonder if this is for the Public? Or maybe City Center?

Timbers calls this his favorite musical ever. So if it’s indeed a passion project, that helps momentum.

Stereophonic - Radio Edit
 Apr 17 2026, 04:27:59 PM

"Radio Edit" is a funny phrase here - but I'd be interested in seeing the shortened version. I bet I wouldn't miss anything. I really liked it on Broadway but found it overstayed its welcome.

Full Monty revival casting wishes
 Apr 17 2026, 04:26:21 PM

With this one it's hard to know who's going to be down to bear it all 8x a week on a nonprofit salary.

If you're primarily referring to Jerry - the character is 32, though Patrick Wilson was 28 in the original.

Curious to see how race will play into it, beyond Horse. In 2027, will the show feel like it's perpetuating the [ahem, idiotic] myth of blue-collar white men who feel "forgotten" by society and view you-kn

Paddington at the Al Hirschfeld

DPK was also in the WARRIORS movie so it'd be something of a full-circle moment!

He's someone I would love to finally get a Tony nom/win!!

David Patrick Kelly as the older gent with the beard?

There are Americans who could credibly play every role in this, but I really hope Tom Edden comes over.

Jen Simard could make a meal out of the VHB role. Bonnie Milligan might be better for Amy Booth-Steel's role (who also got an Olivier nom).

GIANT Seating/View Question

I was in mezz B26 for Giant which was labeled partial view but I thought it was a full perfect view of the stage.

Roundabout 26-27 Season: The Full Monty, The Heart, & More
 Apr 16 2026, 09:36:18 PM

Heard great things about THE HEART, and glad to see FULL MONTY getting revived after kicking around for so long! Leigh Silverman + musicals = no good, though. Roundabout being a nonprofit gives it a little more of a cushion than a commercial production, since trying to convince famous actors to bear it all can be tricky.

New musical UNORTHODOX from Pasek and Taub to premiere at The Huntington during 26-27 season

Quite an impressive creative team, and a big get for the Huntington!

Wonder what commercial producers are behind it?

THE FEAR OF 13 Reviews
 Apr 15 2026, 11:19:53 PM

This was a 3/5 for me. A classic middlebrow Broadway play, formulaically written but nicely acted, that some viewers will feel is intelligent. A bit like this season's version of AMERICAN SON.

My audience was really "with it" and vocal, though.

It will probably get licensed a lot regionally.

Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 4/12/26

I don't know if it will be an "uptick" vs just a slightly different group of people being in town. In the same way that they might get a slight uptick today from that TV appearance, and then the grosses will drop again.

If it remains

Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 4/12/26
 Apr 14 2026, 03:22:57 PM

BEACHES is nearly double the gross of some of those MAYBE HAPPY ENDING preview weeks, which I'm pretty sure means that it win twice as many Tonys and run twice as long.

Lin-Manuel Miranda to direct film adaptation of OCTET

Rehearse for 2 weeks, then record all the songs, then film for 5-6 weeks would seem logical. 25-40 filming days, with reshoots built in a few months from now.

KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN reportedly had 41 days of shooting and IF I HAD LEGS I’D KICK YOU had 27 days. Compared to Spidey, this will probably be more modest in scale due to lack of dance numbers and locations.

Now, it's looking likely that we'll have the movie by the end of next year at the latest."

With Fiddler, that announcement came at a time when MGM was trying to get bought so they announced a flurry of projects based on their own IP to make

TITANÍQUE Reviews

Alexander Lamar said: "Is this a fairly large show?? A 995K weekly nut seems like A LOT for an off-broadway transfer of a parody. Is that figure mostly song royalties?"

It has a 19-piece orchestra (the minimum for the house it is playing in) and a cast of 17.

I would also love to see Emma Sofia nominated. So many good performances in that cast.

TITANÍQUE Reviews

IF the Tonys are going to give it a win, Book does feel like the best option. It's funny and creative. I think Actress is still Caissie vs Lea.

But they could also give TWO STRANGERS Book + Musical, and then LOST BOYS Score + some tech wins. And then revivals take most of the other categories.

As for noms, I think it will be tough to see which way the wind is blowing for most of the new musicals. Titanique could get a bunch
