I have cast members on my FaceBook also. Most of them reply to me and some don't. Same thing with cast members Myspace.

Don't believe everything that you hear! Only the peeps involved know the truth!

Got for it. :)

Granted I personally don't add anybody who isn't a real-lifer to Facebook. I don't wanna explain to various school and work people who random internet person or broadway diva is!

I don't think there's anything wrong with it, because it is ultimately up to the actor if they want to accept the request anyway - if they don't accept, you should just leave it at that.

Sometimes people request friends with tons and tons of actors just so they can gain access and post personal photos, which I think is wrong, even though I know the Internet is private.

Yeah, trying to pry into people's personal lives or to brag that whatever celebrity is your friend is creepy. Like the only celebrity I am friends with on facebook and myspace is Sara Ramirez because I'm a huge fan of hers, but it obviously is her fan accounts that she linked to her official site. But, whatever someone feels like sharing with fans is their business.

Now, you do run into the problem sometimes with fake accounts, but the people who do those usually end up making them so unbelievible and stupid. My rule of thumb is if the person who created the fake account has to keep insisting that they are the person, it is probably fake. No real person would ever do that.

Since it's up to the performer to accept or deny your request, I don't see naything creepy in asking. Some performers actively use their Facebook and MySpaces to get the word out about projects they're doing, so they want as many friends as possible to spread the word of mouth. Others don't. Given all the rejection so many performers have to deal with at auditions, I bet getting a friend request from a fan can feel pretty good some days.
