Hopefully this will clear the debate around here up. American Idiot producers have no plans to petition for Best Score (and Fela! was denied inclusion in the category.)
"A spokesperson for "American Idiot" says that musical, with songs from the rock band Green Day, has not petitioned to be considered for best score. The Tony administration committee will meet at the end of the month to consider eligibility for several new shows, including "American Idiot" and "The Addams Family," across a number of different categories. The Tonys are awarded June 13."
