Posted: 4/6/05 at 4:33pmThank you Kristen for being a role model for so many who have dreams of working in musical theatre, and that they can do it with hard work and devotion, but without giving up their Christian convictions, while also maintaining a heart for society and a non-judgmental attidude. You have given back in so many ways, from fund raisers to your own personal donations, from AIDS benefits, to animal welfare and others in need, and this is just a little thread of appreciation from a fan, and someone who has seen you perform for over a decade.Congratulations Kristen and thanks BWW for the interview.

OK, the part about not checking out internet sites because the chat there is so evil, with people saying awful things about her and her friends? I totally thought of this board!
Daddadinpa, she's talking to YOU!

Posted: 4/6/05 at 5:22pmI adore Kristin Chenoweth and think she has a true gift. Although, I wish she would stay on Broadway rather than sing country music and movies.

it certainly wasn't really an interview. it was more of a commercial for her new cd. I wish there had been some interesting questions asked, etc. Ms. Chenoweth's comments sound "xeroxed." Nothing particularly surprising, interesting or enlightening from this interview, sorry.
Also, I too wish Kristen would stick to Broadway and "standard" type fare. I would rather she leave the country songs and spiritual type stuff to other performers.
Frankly, I liked her better before I read the "interview." She is a tad too spiritual for my blood.
p.s. I absolutely adored her performance with the Boston Pops. :)and I wish I knew who she was or "who she was going to be" when I saw her in A NEW BRAIN.

"I wanted to do a spiritual album, not necessarily at this point in my career,”
what does that mean? Is this the wrong time?
"Like if you’re doing a sitcom, it’s the same as doing a drama, you just pull it back less. It’s all acting, it’s all the same.”
That would explain why it always seems she's portraying the same character in a different environment.

PB, this life is not "new found;" she has been singing this music all her life. This album has also been in the works for years. As I recall, her contract with Sony includes plans for several albums. When I met her three years ago, she mentioned that this would be the style of her second album.
Admittedly, it will not be to everyone's liking (sorry wishihad). I, for one, am a fan of this style of music and think the album is beautiful. Her voice is clear and perfect, and she sings with sincerity from a place of faith. I will rotate it this weekend with WICKED to get two sides of her!

I've loved her in everything I've seen her do, I think she's a truly gifted comedienne, but I'm angry at her for appearing on a hate-mongering show like the 700 Club.
Nevertheless, I can't wait to see her do the Barbara Harris roles in the Encores production of The Apple Tree!
Conflicted? Maybe, but on the scale of 1 = Patti LuPone and Barbara Cook singing for Ronald Reagan at the height of the AIDS crisis and 10 = Leni Riefenstahl making propaganda films for Hitler, Kristin sucking up to Pat Robertson is probably a 3.5
No?

Posted: 4/7/05 at 4:03pmPalJoey, I cannot tell you how my emotions towards this performer have changed today. I never read a great deal about her. She appeared on the 700Club? She should have her Tony revoked and I hope her neck hurts her today for awhile......Her appearing on the 700Club brought alot of pain to alot of her fans. I am stunned and very disappointed at finding out more about this woman. "Hate" is NOT a theaterlover's value.

Posted: 4/7/05 at 6:04pmI agree with PalJoey 100%. I believe you can still respect a performer's gift while not agreeing with either their ideals or beliefs, whatever they maybe. I'm Jewish, gay, and love Kristin's voice, and will be buying her new CD based purely on her talent. Why should anything else matter?

Posted: 4/7/05 at 6:51pmThe fact remains that Kristin chose to plug her album on a show hosted by the most vicious homophobe - Pat Robertson. He is an on-going source of hatred against gay people and raises millions of dollars through that TV show to fan the fires. Kristin should have used better sense. Many of us will never forgive Kathie Lee for her on-going support (to this very day)of Anita Bryant. No one is faulting Kristin for her Christian beliefs or CD. The problem is simply her poor choice of a vehicle to promote it.

That wasn't exactly what I said LuvLiza. I said I couldn't wait to see in her in The Apple Tree. I am NOT buying this CD and would tell her to her face that she did a hurtful thing to her gasy fans appearing on that show.

Posted: 4/7/05 at 7:38pmWhile I have enjoyed Ms. Chenoweth's performances immensely, there is a cold, "hey audience, look at me - aren't I smart and sassy?" quality to her work that is wearing thin for me. Her poorly judged appearance on The 700 Club notwithstanding, I question ANY album entitled "As I Am" that has a heavily made up and airbrushed photo on the cover.
