"I agree with PalJoey 100%. I believe you can still respect a performer's gift while not agreeing with either their ideals or beliefs, whatever they maybe. I'm Jewish, gay, and love Kristin's voice, and will be buying her new CD based purely on her talent. Why should anything else matter?"
I agree, liza. Whenever i go to a show, listen to a CD, or watch a movie, I don't think about the performers political views, religious beliefs, or whatever. If they entertain me, and are talented, then I'm fine with it.

People should care when someone goes over the line. Supporting Robertson is as offensive to gays as supporting a dictator might be to others. This is NOT about a person's beliefs but her helping raise money for a terrible homophobic organization by appearing on that fund-raising show. People with brains should watch it before they make statements about "who cares". Robertson's kind of venom encourages certain morons to kill in the name of religion. Where was Kristin's head or was it pure greed.

I am not a fan of her latest CD, not because of the Christian content because I have no problem with people expressing their faith thru their music, even if I don't share it. But I think the pop arrangements and the drowning background vocals are over the top! I personally like Kristin's voice and I don't think she needs to be overproduced...
I was also horrified by the hairbrushed pics on the CD liner... What our culture has come to when someone like Kristin (or Angelina Jolie for that matter) can't appear in photographs without a Photoshop maniac erasing the slightest wrinkle or apparent vein? However I don't think Kristin has anything to do with that... you should aim your critics at Sony since it's more than probable that the marketing dpt was in charge of the liner and not the artist.
But please could we stop going round and round over that 700 Club thing? Someone wondered what Rosie had to say about that? Well... I guess Kristin's friends will let her know what they think about it and whether or not it was a smart thing to do is not for us to decide. Kristin is NOT Anita Bryant... She didn't campaign against gays, or made negative comments about anyone. She seems like a pretty open person to me. Maybe, just maybe she thought that some non homophobic Christians should get out there as Christians and not let the likes of Robertson do all the talking for them...
just my 2 cents

Yeah, blame Sony and make her a victim. Please. You obviously need to read some history to understand the power of performers and the wise use of media. If you read my last posting, I did not compare Kristin to Anita but mentioned Kathie Lee's relationship to Bryant. Again, study some history and you will understand why many people are outraged by Kristin 's use of the 700 Club for promotion. That is all from me-point made.

i've seen the show several times..i was raised in a christian home so my parents watched it alot over the years. i dont agree with his beliefs at all but i fully agree with Gelfling maybe she is trying to show that not all christians are homophobic by apearing on pat robertson.

I am just a bit curious when a popular Bd'w star chooses a different direction in marketing themselves musically.
I saw her on an interview this week, and she said this is a CD she's been wanting to make for a long time. Sony wouldn't let her until now - so I don't think there was any sharp turn in the direction she wanted to take musically. This kind of music/style was part of her life *long* before Broadway...it just took a while for the powers that be at her label to agree to let her do it.

I think Chenoweth is ridiculously talented (know anyone who really dislikes her voice?), but that was a weird interview ... just some of the things she said were odd, concerning, or annoying. I'm a Christian though, so maybe I'm just not tolerating her enough
I do not know a thing about the 700 Club, and I'm sure that I do not want to. Kristen has the gall to respect other people's beliefs while mainting her own, or she would not have been so positive of Rosie O'Donnell. Funny how people can't seem to do the same for her. This is something people are never going to agree on, so I don't even know why I'm posting, but ah well.
But about the CD itself, most of the songs are just okay, but I love hearing Kristin sing like she does in "Just as I am." You don't often get to hear her sing so soft and gently, and I find her voice really relaxing and soothing.
