So, as my whole big Italian family does...we get together on Xmas Eve and exchange presents. Just close family like aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents. I don't get the gifts from my parents until Christmas Day.

Anyway...so back from college break I am excited to be back near the city. I already have tickets for La Cage, which I am seeing on December 26th. I am also going to see John Tartaglia's Joe's Pub concert on the third as well as seeing Avenue Q for the third time on January 5th. So, I figure...this is all I'm going to see of the city this winter break...wrongo!

My aunt and uncle surprise me with tickets to...wouldn't you know it...Good Vibrations. Now, my family has a huge obsession with the Beach Boys, not including myself. I mean, I like them...but I really had no desire to see this musical at all. Of course...my whole family is going...and since they know I love Broadway...they buy me tickets for this. I had never feigned interest in the show or anything. But I was happy to accept.

Now, I'm not complaining...but I just never expected to see myself ever going to this show. I enjoyed Movin Out and Mamma Mia...but a Beach Boys musical never thrilled me. So...I guess my reaction is more of surprisement and skepticism than it is of being upset. I'm never upset getting the opportunity to see a Broadway show...but I just don't know what to expect from this one. I hope it turns out to be at least mildly entertaining.

Be glad @ least they are trying to indulge your Bway attending desires. Plus It might turn out to be something you will have pleasant memories of as a family event. Look @ the positives!

Don't worry - GV will be tons of fun. I'm seeing it in January. And even if you don't like it, at least you'll get to see lots of guys with their shirts off!

If Movin Out could be a hit with it's story line written based on the strategic stock piling of Billy Joel songs, I think that we should at least give Good Vibrations a fair chance. The choreographing will not be as amazing as Movin Out, but let’s give it a go anyway. Maybe GV will have a better story plot. Hmmm…..we shall see.
