Anastasia Social Media Presence

I have to say I have been quite shocked by the social media presence of this show over the past few months. The most recent show clips published by BroadwayWorld on Facebook has been shared 80.5 thousand times, liked by 93.3 thousand people and has been views over 4.7 million times

This also doesn't account for the video of the music box which went viral earlier this announcing that tickets were now on sale. So my question is why is this shows social media presence so big? Is it the nostalgia factor. I know friends who hate theatre sharing the video with friends saying they need to see it. Is this going to be comparable to wicked or do you think it will lose steam after a few years?

People know the name from the movie so they click on it out of curiosity. In this day and age, 90,000 likes is really not that unusual. Someone liking a video does not automatically equate to someone being willing to spend $300-400 for a pair of tickets so I wouldn't overstate its meaning.

The types of numbers Anastasia gets is significantly higher than the other successful shows on Broadway. I think this article is really interesting and I think partially explains the phenomenon.
