ANCHORMAN 2 WOULD HAVE BEEN A MUSICAL. ON BROADWAY.

Adam McKay says that the aborted sequel to Anchorman was going to be better than you imagined.

"It was a musical," he told me in a one on one interview. "We were going to do four months on Broadway and then jump right into filming."

"You should still do the Broadway run," I told him, being a fanboy.

"We tried," McKay said. "But it's too hard on the actors. And there's no money for them."

I really don't think someone with a production photo of "Shrek" as their avatar has any room to criticize...well, anything.

But obviously I love the "Anchorman" film and think the concept for the sequel sounds like an interesting idea. I wonder why word of it getting around now, years after it fell through?

The project fell through like a month or two ago because their projected budget was too high. And it makes me sad, since Anchorman is one of the funniest/most quotable movies I've ever seen. And the idea of seeing Ferrell, Rudd, and Carell all on stage together makes me smile. But since it won't happen, all I have to say is:

I'M COMPLETELY MISERABLE, SAN DIEGO!

B3TA07- I was not criticizing anything. I just do not think Anchorman would make a good musical. I love the movie, but I just cannot see a musical version of it working out.
