My vote is for Nathan Lane!!! He has The Producers movie under his belt, successful run of Odd Couple.
...Oprah, only because the Tony's might pull in a diff. audience along with us theatre freaks!
...Norbert or John for having such great runs in DRS
...and just because it popped in my mind...Michael Crawford?, back on the scene with Phantom and it's new Longest Running show title.
Anyone besides Hugh Jackman is fine with me. I'm really mad that Billy Crystal missed his chance. You'd think that man who's hosted the Oscars more times than anyone would get asked the year he was on Broadway....oh well. I can see Oprah doing it, seems a likely choice.
And as far as I'm concerned, I'll never get sick of the Lane/Broderick combo!

Mmmmmmmmm, I still like Hugh in the Tony's :).
I'm not going to be too happy if it's Hugh again. Oprah would be a great choice...we hace to remember that the Tony ratings have been steadily declining, and if Oprah Winfrey can't bring them up, I don't know who can. When will the host be announced for sure?
I get the Oprah thing and i love her-i have her 20th anniversary dvds! Thats a lot of love. Though she has amazing charisma...does she have award show charisma?
in deep excited oprah voice getting louder and louder
" weeelcommme tooo theeee TOOOONYYY'S!!! IIIIIM OPPPPRRAAAHH!"
sounds silly.

yeah, Oprah should really do it- she would bring the ratings up, the show would be somewhat more interesting, and the Color Purple would be guarenteed to win Best Musical (which it deserves greatly!)
Why not bring Rosie back, She just finished "Fiddler" it would make sense.
Who knows, maybe she'll take it as an opportunity to do something she's never done before - she's always good about those things. And, it will make her more personable to people in the industry, maybe scoring her some more votes. We shall see.
There is no way she can or will host the Tonys. She's probably booked till 2028 anyway.
I vote for John Lithgow. Or John and Norbert. Although I'm sure it will just be Hugh again.
Hugh is the best...flat out. He is so charming and with that ozalot fan base, they really cannot go wrong. Also, I think they need to keep him connected to Broadway, judging by the numbers he pulls in.
Sammy
I put in my vote for Anthony Rapp and Adam Pascal to host it together =D
As long as it's not Hugh Jackman, I'll be happy. A fine actor, he's completely bland as host.

Except that this "fan base" doesn't watch the show. The Tony's have had their lowest ratings ever recently.
I want either:
Billy Crystal
John Lithgow
David Hyde Pierce
How 'bout Oprah and Nathan?
The Opening number could be BUSOM BUDDIES.
HahahahahaaaHAHAHAHahahahahAHAAha!
Love it.
What is the point of using Lauper and Cummings...the Gays already watch the Tonys

Hugh's big summer movie (X-MEN 3) will have just been released by the time of the TONY telecast. His Woody Allen movie with Scarlett Johansson ( SCOOP) would most likely have opened in Cannes a few weeks before that. And his much awaited movie by Darren Aronofsky, THE FOUNTAIN, would either have been released or awaiting awards-season release by that time. And he has two animation ( voice-over roles) movies due out by the end of the year ( one with Nicole Kidman and the other with Kate Winslet). So, it is going to be a banner year for Hugh Jackman movies this year.
On the theatre side -- the arena production of THE BOY FROM OZ is now rumored for an August-September 2006 tour in Australia.
At least Hugh is a performer - which is what a TONY ceremonies need! Maybe he won't be asked this year or his schedule is too full, and while I can appreciate personal preferences as to who should play host, I don't think there is a need to put him down. After all, he won an EMMY for doing just that - hosting the TONYs!

I don't think there should be a host this year. Just like in 1999, the presenters and the announcer woman should be the hosts. And they should pick Broadway alumnus for the presenters, no more movie stars.
Megan Mullally
Better yet...let's have the cast of "Will & Grace" host.
They can do a medley a la Bernadette Peters and Gregory Hines, but Eric and Sean can sing the women's songs and Debra and Megan can sing the men's songs.
HIGH-larious!

I like the idea of a few major theatre stars sharing the hosting responsibilities. Definitely NOT Julia Roberts. Unlike a lot of people, I don't feel strongly that Oprah should host. I like her a lot, but I think whoever hosts should have strong ties to the Broadway community for more than 6 months.
