"Old Acquaintance" by John van Druten.
Yippe...
Are you effing kidding me?
Unfortunately, no.
And I've also been told that they are not pursuing stars. It's going to be "Broadway people."
They're doing this because of the success of THE CONSTANT WIFE.
Oh.

Well, maybe it'll be a hoot. Who's directing?
I don't know that, yet. Will find out tomorrow.
I have no doubt that this production could be tight, engrossing, and entertaining. Roundabout typically does these shows quite well. I was just hoping for something...a little more exciting.
Yeah, me too.

Wow, now that's a VERY random choice. I only know the movie which is a watchable, second-tier clunky little melodrama, only interesting largely due to the palpable tension between Bette Davis and Miriam Hopkins who detested one another off screen. With a very good director and somebody like Cherry Jones (who knows this territory well having done "The Heiress") in one of the leads, this might be entertaining. Still, it strikes me as a very odd choice for a theatre like Roundabout (with its multimillion dollar budget) to do.
I think that there's probably a reason why this old chesnut has never been revived in the almost 70 years since its debut.
I'm surprised. This is a total 180 from what I'd heard they were considering. Still, if they can pull this old farce off half as well as their production of The Constant Wife (which I saw twice and adored), I'll be happy.
At least it is not another revival of Man Of La Mancha. For that, we can be eternally greatful
Who knows, it may turn about to be quite good. Time will tell.
At least they're doing Sunday in the Park with George too.
Love the movie and not familiar with the play. An interesting choice...

Boy, now THAT is random.
I'll place a bet on Cherry Jones playing the Miriam Hopkins role, Kate Burton playing the Bette Davis role.

Well, Kate has a TV show and Cherry is tied up with the DOUBT tour, so I wouldn't bank on that happening.

Ah, that's too bad.
They're the only people who could get me to see something like this.
Julie White as Kit and Patricia Heaton as Millie.

Heaton's got a TV gig, but White is free.
How weird would this be....White gets it, hits it out of the ballpark as usual, and is nominated for a Tony....up against herself for Little Dog?
Could they even get this open in time for this year's Tonys? PRELUDE TO A KISS is set to run through 4/29, and the Tony cutoff is 5/9. This will definitely fall in the 2007-08 category.
ETA: Too bad about Heaton. Laila Robins?

Ah, that's true!
I keep forgetting that the season runs from early fall to mid-summer.
What about Kristen Johnston?
I think its time for Todd Haimes to step down. This is ridiculous.

This WILL be the 2008/2009 season...it begins previews June 1st.
It will be directed by Michael Wilson.
His only other Broadway direction credit is ENCHANTED APRIL, which was horridly bad.
He produced CHITTY.
