OY - Terrance Mann couldn't even reprise Javert well in 2003!

What's sad is more than 350 people clicked to see who you were gonna say, myself included, lol .

Not. Funny.
Hahaha I would actually go see that. I'd see Terrence Mann in almost anything, and that includes Lennon.
That was just obnoxious. Someone should delete this thread.

its me! its meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!
The most recent information that I have to contribute is that "the role has been offered". It is no one who has been mentioned in the BWW polls or any message board suggestions, to my knowledge.
Beyond this I am not at liberty to say anymore. I'm sure an official announcement will be made shortly.
The other place had someone mention Alexander Gemignani. Take that with a severe pinch of salt for what its worth.
I can sort of see them casting that way. You never know.
Since it was already posted at ATC, I will confirm that is also the name I was told by a reliable source.I'm sure the opinions will fly now, so here's mine.
I am disappointed that Mackintosh did not go with a former Valjean. There were a few former well deserved Valjeans that I would much rather see re-create the role. In all due respect I would hardly consider Alex Gemignani a "marquee value name". Dissapointedly, I was dead wrong and (not alone I will add) in my idea that they would likely cast as such.
A 20's, Gemignani must have given an super impressive audition. It will be interesting to see how he pulls off a 35-60 yr. old and be a formadible rival to what I imagine will be an impressive Norm Lewis,(mid/late 30's) Javert.
This leaves an open door to bring in another "marquee name" or 2. And with a 20's Valjean, this should be interesting casting the ladies.
Just my views.
I agree with you PB Ent, that I'm disappointed that they are going to cast actors who have no previous experience in Les Mis productions. Also, is Gemignani a marquee value?? I mean he is known to theatre goers, but unless you follow Sondheim shows, he is not THAT known, at least compared to Norm. Maybe he is an alternate Valjean, and there may be a princple Valjean (like Christine in POTO) who has a bigger name.
I'm thrilled that they're casting people with no LES MIS experience. They will be excited and find something new and fresh in the characters. The same can't be said of someone who has been playing the role in a 2nd rate tour for 7 years. They made the right decision.
As far as Gemignani is concerned, he may be young, but he looks (without makeup) atleast 10 years older than he is. With makeup and a wig, he'll be fine.

Munk is correct in saying that he looks ten years older. When I talked with him after Sweeney, I assumed he was close to 40, but was rather surprised to find out he's so young.
Interesting casting, I must say, though.

BTW - how do you say his last name?

Oh, good. I've been saying it right.
Thanks!
I'm definitely not disappointed, but I am surprised. I always like fresh blood in shows, but I didn't expect both leads to be total Les Miz newbies.
I can assure you, there are a lot of surprised people about a number of things. But....depends on the offer.
Gemignani has been definately "offered the deal"...nothing's in stone or officially announced about this or any one else. (Wonder if Jodie Foster will be in the audience!)

Alexander would be very fitting as Valjean, but how will he sound with a French accent?
