Source material counts for a lot. I love Nabokov's LOLITA, among the greatest of contemporary novels, and one that tore open my soul. Unfortunately, the Lerner/Barry effort doesn't compare but I do like IN THE BROKEN PROMISE LAND OF FIFTEEN and HOW FAR TO THE NEXT TOWN? (sic).
