My name is Elizabeth, I?m twenty-five years old, I?ve written to her once, but never met her or even seen her in a show, although so much have I been hoping to take advantage of this opportunity to go and see her in ?Blithe Spirit.? At times like these, I envy those who live right in the city of New York. I think Miss Lansbury is a very classy and beautiful lady and I long to meet her. For those of you who have met her, would anyone happen to have any stagedoor stories to share? I?m very much interested in reading them, and seeing pictures of her with her fans, signing playbills. Any pictures and/ or stagedoor stories from ?Deuce? and ?Blithe Spirit? I am especially interested in.
Thank you in advance.
she tends to say "Quickly" a lot
She was such a sweetheart. There were lots of young people there after Blithe Spirit, and she comment on how nice it was to see so many young people going to the theater.
As she signed my Playbill, she said: "Keep coming to the theater. I still do!"
I am going back in a couple weeks. I'm going to try and get a photo with her.

I've never heard anything but nice about her. That she is divine and a sweetheart and a very professional lady. If I were to go and see her, I would be one of those young people. If I were to go and see her, I know that I would dress up. I can even imagine her saying to me something to the effect, "Well, don't YOU look all dolled up for a night out to the theatre." And she would smile and I would smile at her and tell her that I dressed up just for her. So much do I want to meet her.

I saw her on Thurdsay. She signed autographs but didn't pose for picture. She seemed friendly, gracious, humble, and genuine. A true class act. I was disappointed that Christine Ebersole didn't come out though.

She was very nice and cute. She only signs playbills. She had to turn down this man because he asked her for one on paper. You could tell she felt bad. She sent him a kiss nd waved. Shes very nice
Christine Ebersole didn't come out yesterday either. I thought it was just because it was Easter. Does she not sign at all anymore?
In every photo I have ever seen of this woman from the stage door, she never fails to look classy and elegant.
When I saw last Wednesday's matinee, no one came out to sign but Ms. Lansbury sent out a stack of signed playbills. I thought that was a very nice gesture. Though it would have been nice to see her close-up, I felt honored just to see her live in a wonderful show giving an outstanding performance!

I appreciate all of the little stories and the picture of her. Thank you. They're so interesting to read.
Incidentally, I saw a video of her that someone put up on the YouTube a while back, but it isn't there anymore. It was a video of her signing after a "Deuce" matinee. She was wearing a white-collared-and-cuffed man-tailored blouse, and talking in an Italian accent for her Italian fans. One showed her a picture of her mother, and she said, smiling, "That's so nice. That's my mother. La mia madre." Laughing, she seemed so relaxed and down-to-earth, classy and lovely. She looked so beautiful in that little video capture. Her hair seemed pure white in "Deuce." Her natural hair looks whitish-blonde. Did she put something in her hair for her Leona role, or wear a pure white wig?
Saw "Blithe Spirit" a week ago, and she was extremely sweet, signing for everyone. When we were gushing over her, she said that she felt truly blessed to be able to do what she loves, and to have been able to make a life out of it.
This was at 'Deuce'. I got her to sign my 'Sweeney' poster.

I have a few questions about tickets. I have never seen a show or ordered a ticket before. I know I must sound naïve. But I am considering going to see her in Blithe Spirit. I want to so badly, and I would, but the only thing that is so iffy about it is the cost of traveling and being able to get away. I know when you order a ticket, you choose your seat. Or do you? And another thing I am in the dark about is if you choose the date and the time that you see the show? Because I would hate to order a ticket and see that the date would be a date far in advance, and I might wonder if Blithe Spirit might have closed by then. I just do not understand how it all works, but any enlightenment would be appreciated. Thanks.
Yes, you order for a specific performance and you pick your seat.
If you order for a date in the future and the show closes before that date, you get a full refund.

Saw the show tonight she was very sweet and nice. They made an annoucement that she will only sign playbills and posters. So I got her to sign my playbill. I had brought her hat from Mrs. Santa Claus which I bought at a BCEFA Auction which I was hoping she would sign.
The show is great fun however I thought the movie ends differenlty.

I wonder why only Playbills and posters...? Maybe so they cannot add something to the paper later with her sig on it?
Just wondering...
Besides being a great talent, she is a class act, and, yes, cute!

Thanks for clearing me up on information about tickets!
You all are so lucky to have met her. She's a darling. Do you think it would be appropriate if I asked her if I could hug her and give her a kiss?

Ms. Lansbury only signs "Blithe Spirit" Playbills and posters because otherwise she would be signing at stage door for hours, and she is promoting this show. We have been twice to see the show and wait at stage door. We have yet to meet Jayne Atkinson, but everyone else signed for us.
To see a great star like Ms. Lansbury take the time to sign and talk to her fans is a real thrill. Everybody wants a picture, too, so I guess she had to stop posing. They pull her car into Shubert Alley, set up the barricades, and after the show, she is generally the first one out the stage door. The last time we went, she signed for a good 15 minutes in the cold before departing to a rousing ovation; true Broadway royalty. I predict a fifth Tony Award for her performance as Madame Arcadi, well deserved. Brava!!
This is off topic, but I didn't want to start a new post for this but is Blithe Spirit a limited engagement? If it is, when is the shows last show?
Sigh, I wanted her to sign my "Gypsy" poster.

Speaking of the Tonys, isn't it time that Angela received a Lifetime achievement award? Not only for the mountain of work she's done on Broadway, but for being a constant supporter of the New York theatre. Also, the Tony Awards ceremony was never better than when Angela was the hostess back in the late 80's and early 90's. She's the best.

Blithe Spirit has an open-ended run, which means that there is no definite limit or date. I don't think anyone, not even the actresses and actors know, unless I'm wrong. I take open-ended to mean just playing it by ear. Incidentally, I've been wondering, just as there is an Opening Night party, is there usually a Closing Night party also?
Angela's version of Gypse is my favorite of all the Gypsy posters.
when i was in nyc my friends went and saw blithe spirit and they are mt students and they asked ms. lansbury if she had any advice for them and she said "just learn how to do it". smart woman!
The run of Blithe Spirit is not open ended. As of now, the show is scheduled to close on July 19.
