"They did Sweeney Todd a few years ago at Ravinia and I think Pirelli was played by a woman. Has anyone ever heard of such a thing?"
yea, 2005 John Doyle revival pirelli was played by Donna Lynne Champlin. but in other productions (original b'way, original london, etc.) the role was played by a man.

I thought so too, but I made a similar comment in my hotel room one time and I could tell the maid disapproved of my casting choice. I never brought it up again.

I hate to tell you.........
I love it when everyone knows how it is done.
I have been a subscriber to Broadway in Chicago, and other theaters....they do not give all the best seats to the subscribers. I know people who have worked on some of these places. They keep the best seats to try and sell at a higer price. I had terriable seats at Broadway in Chicago and did better and cheaper doing it on my own.
Don't be fooled that you can get any seat you want being a subscriber.........

I know from years of selling Ravinia tickets- a huge chunk of the pavilion is gone to subscribers before the shows go on sale to the general public.
