Doesn't it bug you when...

it bugs me that my dad says he's taking me to see "that one play" because he doesn't want to admit he's going to see a musical. that really pisses me off.
Cast Recording Suggestions

Company (recent revival with Esparza is my favorite)
Gypsy (LuPone revival)
Sweeney Todd (LuPone revival)
Spring Awakening (you'll probably really like this one based on your current favorites.)
[title of show]
The Last 5 Years (my absolute favorite!)
A Chorus Line (recent revival)

Sweeney Todd - A Little Priest Question

yea, Angela does a very clear "rear" and Patti's sounds more like "royal". and it would be very unlike Sondheim to reuse a word like that. so i guess i was wrong. sorry, ghostlight. sorry, musicaldudepeter.

Sweeney Todd - A Little Priest Question

i don't have a libretto, but i'm fairly sure it's "royal" both times.

Sweeney Todd - A Little Priest Question

not to be a prick, but it's "royal admiral". she's just using a british accent when she says it.
Who is your favourite EVITA?

Patti LuPone is my favorite, but i really like Elena Rogers in the OLC, so glad she's going to reprise the role.
A Tribute to Oscar Hammerstein

my favorite Hammerstein lyrics:

"Climb every mountain
Ford every stream
Follow every rainbow
Till you find your dream

A dream that will need
All the love you can give
Every day of your life
For as long as you live"
-Sound of Music

"Dat's de ol' man dat I'd like to be!
What does he care if de world's got troubles?
What does he care if de land ain't free?
Ol' man river,
Dat ol' man river
He mus'know sumpin'
But don't sa

Cute costumes for couples

Nancy and Bill (Oliver!)
Angel and Collins (Rent)

Self-made theatre fans

i am! true, my father used to bring us out community productions of Peter Pan or Joseph once in a while but it was more about getting the kids to shut up more than exposing us to art. i was the only one to catch on and really seek out theater. i think my dad sparked it, i (alone) helped my interest survive (for a good 8 years or so) until my best friend came along and really poured on the lighter fluid.
If you could sit between any two people in theatre history at a dinner part

i like a lot of the ones that have already been said like:
LuPone/ALW
Fosse/Verdon
Fosse/Reinkin

and i'd like to add

Fosse/Vereen
Susan Blackwell/Hunter Bell
LuPone/Patinkin
Bernadette Peters/LuPone
Bernadette Peters/Patinkin

Anger at Sondheim concert at Ravinia

"They did Sweeney Todd a few years ago at Ravinia and I think Pirelli was played by a woman. Has anyone ever heard of such a thing?"

yea, 2005 John Doyle revival pirelli was played by Donna Lynne Champlin. but in other productions (original b'way, original london, etc.) the role was played by a man.

Everyone Admit Your Age on Broadwayworld

(this kind of feels like an AA meeting with everyone starting out with their age, haha.)
i'm 14 (there i go) and i think the reason i like older shows so much more is because those are the ones i've always been watching at home. what i watched was not influenced by what had a current production so much as which library VHS was next in line on the shelf.

what i noticed in this thread is: all the younger fans standing up for their tastes announce Sondheim as old. he may have writte

Your Favorite Piece of Stage Magic

pretty much all of The Last Five years, but especially "The Next Ten Minutes", how the beginning and end line up so seamlessly, and "Goodbye Until Tomorrow/I Could Never Rescue You". just amazing.
HBO's 'Miraculous Year' with LuPone, Langella, Redmayne and more...

i do!
Badly Titled Shows

Best Little Whorehouse in Texas- just seems... vulgar.
Favortie line from any Broadway Show

"that guy in the red shirt in the third row was really hot!"
"hunter, that guy was straight"
"so is spaghetti, until you get it all hot and wet."
- [title of show]

What's a role you've always wanted to play?

Sweeney - Sweeney Todd
Hunter - [tos]
Che - Evita
Mr. Bumble - Oliver!
Javert - Les Mis
Mark - Rent
Phantom - POTO

... too bad i'm not a guy. well, drag revivals are always an option, right?

on the more probable side:

Clara - The Light in the Piazza
Nancy - Oliver!
Evita - Evita
Lois Lane - Kiss Me Kate
Fräulein Schneider - Cabaret
pretty much any Sherie Renee Scott role
pretty much any Anne Miller role
Is it really THAT hard to research a musical?

maggie- (enter stage left) it's okay, danny. we'll stick together. anyway, we're done with small minded middle schoolers now. high school has to be better, right?
Broadway's best voices

Patti LuPone, of course. then Brian Stoke Mitchell, Victoria Clark,Jesse Martin,Laura Benanti, Michael Cerveris, Raul Esparza, Heather Laws, etc.

[tos] cast, anyone? Hiedi Blickenstaff? Hunter Bell?

Oliver Broadway Revival?

(as to the original question) the last production only ran for 17 performances not because of the show itself, but because of timing. obviously that production had lots of potential, it just wasn't the right time for a b'way revival of any show.
