I apologize for adding yet another CHORUS LINE thread to the boards, but I just read that Ann Reinking played Cassie during the original run - something I didn't know before.

Did anyone here see her in the role? How was she? I imagine that she would be quite good.

You'll find all kinds of info here, Munk...

I'd give full details (saw her twice back in 1976), but the fact you KEEP spelling her first name wrong irks me beyond belief.

Oy!

It's ANN Reinking.

Double-oy!

Hi Munk

Yes...I saw her do it on Broadway and still have the Playbill and program. The programs centerfold had been redone with Annie in the famous Cassie pose. I had such a crush on her! Soon after that, I saw her in a tour of Chicago. That show changed my life, I kid you not.

Edit: I also saw her twice when Dancin! opened. Updated On: 9/28/06 at 02:49 PM

I always thought it was Anne Lionking.

EDIT: Oh, and thanks for all the wonderful details about her performance, guys.

So very enlightening.

Annie replaced Donna when most of the original line went out west to open the LA company. She also tied the skirt on the other side because it showed off her leg better when she did battments and fluttered more in the turning section in TMATM. Every Cassie in the original run followed suit with the skirt. It is interesting to me especially since the logo has it tied on the right where Donna tied it (as well as Charlotte) but every photo since Donna it is tied on the left.

It is also noted in The Longest Line that because of Annie's long gorgeous legs that she tried doing Music and the Mirror a few times without the skirt, just in the red leotard, but it was decided that it made the dance look to vulgar. Interesting tidbit. There is a picture in the book of Annie performing the number without the skirt ... one of many rare pics in the book.

I thought she was terrific in ANNIE.

I hope she gets back to the stage soon.

I met her a few years ago at Melanie's final performance in CHICAGO, and she could not have been nicer. I love her.
