Anna is not a Glinda; she is the antithesis of bright, cheery, and bubbly. Anna is Elphaba.
Loved it! Wouldn't mind seeing her as Elphaba with a Bette Middler as Morrible.
Back to ITW, check your DVRs folks. The cast is out promoting this like crazy!
Really love this. The song in present tense has a life of it's own. Gives it an urgency and an energy that works on a different level for the characters development.
"Did I hear that we will see Jack in the land of the giants and Little Red go into the belly of the wolf?"
Uh... no ... and yes.
they never show us the Giants' house, but Jack IS seen climbing up and down the beanstalk while he sings, which is handled swell, though it can't beat last year's JACK THE GIANT SLAYER (which was kind of fabulous frankly).
But gird your loins-- yes, Little Red takes a psychedelic ride down the wolf's gullet to find Grannie hovering in the recesses below. The single lamest sequence in all of ITW.
Agreed that Kendrick sounds great here and the revisions to the lyrics are smart and reimagine the song very well. I'm most struck by the orchestrations, though, especially in the beginning, which I imagine is the transition from her running down the steps -- absolutely incredible!
