Anna Taking Elphie in NYC: any proof?!

Just wondering.... rumors keep flying around that Anna Gasteyer (excuse the spelling!) may be taking over for Sho in NYC this winter. Does anyone have proof though???

As much as I'd like to believe she will be joining the Broadway show... I have yet to hear anyone with an actual source or any liable piece of evidence relating to its credibility....

anyone got anything?

It wouldn't seem to make sense for her to go to NY right after she's done in Chicago ... but January doesn't seem like a very long contract??

Ana Gasteyer is in Wicked? As in, "Celine Dion" on SNL? Seriously??

(I am not joking. Have I been living under a rock?? When did this happen?)

Good Lord, I've got to venture away from that Off-Topic Board more often. re: Anna Taking Elphie in NYC: any proof?!

Any photos of La Gasteyer in Elphaba mode?

Up until January is a pretty short contract, but up until then, she hasn't scheduled any vacation/personal days so far...

This from the horse's mouth: Joe Mantello wants Ana to do WICKED in NYC. Not based on her marquis value, but based on her superb performance. It's not known, however, if she would come directly from Chicago or join the cast at a later date. Gasteyer, perhaps, has some film/tv offers in the works.

No way. She's having a hard enough time in Chicago.
I say Eden, she loves the role.

Bunch, I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "having a hard enough time in Chicago..." She's only missed a couple of performances and her reviews were raves, many saying she's the best ever to do the role. I saw her do the role twice last week and she was superb both times. I'd hardly say she's overwhelmed by any aspect of playing Elphaba in WICKED.

^ What? Everyone is loving Ana in the role. The critics loved her too. I'd take her over Eden ANYDAY, I think a lot of us would. Ana actually sings the song - she dosen't scream everything.

Well, considering the show's sort of star-proof (it's doing fine right now and I hardly doubt the avergae Wicked attendee is going for Ben Vereen or "That lady from the old person show"), I still can't imagine they wouldn't want to put a slightly more marquee name up there like Ana over Eden.
PLus, having heard them both sing, Ana has somewhat of a warmer voice than Eden. And God knows, I would love to hear a non-screechy version of Elphaba.

I hope she comes to NYC to be in Wicked. From what people have been saying about her I really want to see her but Chicago is a bit to far for my family to travel. So it would be good is she comes to New York since it is closer to me.
