Annie Baker Receives MacArthur 'Genius' Grant

In case you couldn't tell by my avatar and name, I'm a huge Annie Baker fan. I'd recommend starting with the collection of The Vermont Plays from TCG and reading those in the publication order. Then move on to The Flick and John (and, eventually, when published, The Antipodes). Her work is really unparalleled in modern theatre.

John is, in my opinion, her best work to date. I didn’t care for The Flick as much as I thought I would, but The Antipodes really cemented her place among my favorite playwrights. I’ve only seen scene work in acting classes from her other plays, but they always stood out as the most interestingly and cohesively written of the bunch.
