Posted: 1/24/05 at 12:42amI adore Annie Golden. She's fabulous. I walked by her on the street in front of Fairway and was too googly to say anything, but I heart that woman.

Annie Golden has a long history with Marc Shaiman, beginning when she starred in his musical DEMENTOS.
She's often appeared with him in concert, over the years. (The "Evening with Marc Shaiman" shows that they used to do at the Bottom Line, for example).
I assume that he called in a favor when they did the HAIRSPRAY demo, and he knew her voice would be perfect for it. He tends to work with the same people again and again -- Annie Golden, Pattie Darcy, and Linda Hart, among others.

Posted: 1/24/05 at 2:56amShe auditioned for a replacement role in Hairspray and unfortunately it did not go well from what I heard. It's a shame. Give her another chance! Everyone's allowed to have a bad day. Someone get this woman back on Broadway.

Hearing her sing "Good Morning Baltimore" LIVE at Marc's BoundBrook concert was truly a musical theater highlight of last year!
She is AMAZING!

You're right, Eddie. She was magnificent singing GMB. I believe Scott and Marc are both good friends with Annie. She was a real sweetheart at the concert.
By the by, she's been keeping busy:

Though, I agree. We could use her back on Broadway. Or at the Brook, after we open... :)

Posted: 1/24/05 at 4:56pmI think they had a demo of her on a news website. ZYou can also download it. I think her Good Morning Baltimore has to grow on you. It hasn't grownn on me yet.

Posted: 1/24/05 at 4:58pmI know there are sound clips online of Annie Golden singing in "Welcome to the 60s" and "Good Morning Baltimore." Does anyone have the link? And, no, they are NOT illegal, as I found them posted on an official review website - I think it was for either Denver or Baltimore.

Posted: 1/24/05 at 6:41pmI have one of the mp3s of a version of 'Welcome to the 60's' that I always wondered who the singer was. Now that I think of it, it does sound like Annie. And Harvey is DEFINITELY singing on it as well.
