Now that the Edies are gone...
...not to mention several other beloved plays...
What are the shows that you're excited about? The ones that will keep Broadway alive? The ones to challenge us, entertain us, and inspire us?
When the Lord closes a show... SOMEWHERE he opens a window, right?

Posted: 7/31/07 at 8:36amI'm very excited for "A Catered Affair". The cast they have lined up is amazing, and Harvey is returning to Broadway!

Top 4:
Young Frankenstein, Little Mermaid, Mauritius, Pygmaleon
And there are a few rumors I've heard that I'm very excited about...but they probably won't pan out, so they're not worth mentioning.

I've seen most of the shows playing right now. I am seeing The Year of Magical Thinking this weekend. Which I am excited about. But I'm not that interested in many of the shows coming up next, except for Sunday in the Park With George, as I have never seen it before.

I am definitely looking forward to A CATERED AFFAIR and SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE. I am also pretty excited about THE LITTLE MERMAID. I think it's going to be legitimate theatre. I think it was a challenging piece to adapt (like LION KING), and I think it they did it right (which, from what I have read, they seem to have done), it's going to be a spectacular theatrical event.
YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN looks fun too, but I just hope Mel Brooks isn't writing the same boring songs he wrote for THE PRODUCERS.

Posted: 7/31/07 at 11:05amI have high hopes for "The Farnsworth Invention." Not only am I quite familiar with the history behind it -- hooray for my RTV specialty in undergrad! -- but also think Jimmi Simpson is a fabulous yet horrifically underused actor.

Posted: 7/31/07 at 11:23amA Catered Affair, Sunday in the Park with George, Mauritius (I loves me some Bobby Cannavale), Pygmalion. Oh, and West Side Story, if anything ever materializes with that / whatever season it gets put up.

A bird cage I plan to hang,
I'll get to that someday...
A bird cage for a bird who flew away
Around the world.

Posted: 7/31/07 at 11:35amIf Cabaret is happening, it must not be in Studio 54 tho, cause that's where Sunday,...George is going. hmmm, where will it go?
#16re: Another Summer in a Winter Town...
Posted: 7/31/07 at 11:43amRegardless, it's not supposed to be until AFTER Sunday.

Posted: 7/31/07 at 11:44amBenanti should try Sally Bowles. This is a good idea.
#18re: Another Summer in a Winter Town...
Posted: 7/31/07 at 11:51amIsnt' Sunday gonna be an open-ended run?
#19re: Another Summer in a Winter Town...
Posted: 7/31/07 at 11:53amNo. Roundabout runs are (I believe) always limited. Cabaret was an exception.

Pygmalion and The Little Mermaid. I haven't made up my mind about Young Frankenstein yet. I'll probably see it, but I'm not falling all over myself to get tickets.
Beyond that...I really don't know.

Cabaret is happening in the fall of 2008, with Alan Cumming reprising his role as the Emcee
And yes, it will be at Studio 54
