This is my first original post here. How exciting! haha

I was wondering if anyone knows where to find any reasonably priced Anthony Warlow CD's. The ones I can find are imports on Amazon and rather expensive. Thanks!

Hi!

Try HMV-Australia. Here's the link to the list of available Warlow items :

http://www.hmv.com.au/search/search.asp?SType=AllWords&referer=search&SValue=anthony+warlow&Column=ArtistTitle&Fmt=Any&Search.x=36&Search.y=24

I was able to get, in addition to CDs, a DVD of his concert called MAIN EVENT ( together with John Farmham and Olivia Newton-John). It is not on the list, but I was also able to get a DVD of the opera FLEIDERMAUS ( sung in English), in which Anthony sang the lead role. Anthony is classically trained, hence the opera performance. I think there used to be some available Gilbert and Sullivan recordings with him as the lead, but they are no longer on the list. You may want to inquire from CUSTOMER SERVICE of the site if these items no longer listed may still be available.

I live in the Philippines and I find the shipping charges very reasonable ( much cheaper than Amazon). They quote in Aus $, US $, and UK GBP and exempt the sale from local taxes if shipped out of Australia.

Hope that helps.

Thank you! I actually first loved Anthony when I was in high school and listened to the Symphonic recording of Les Miserables (the first cast recording of a show I have ever listened to) and I remember listening to it and hearing his voice and just being blown away. I can just hear him singing the part in One Day more.

I only ask because you speak very fondly of him (in other posts) as if you 'know' him

No, I don't personally know him, but I have his autograph on a picture and his autograph on the JEKYLL AND HYDE libretto booklet. I also own all of his cd's but one and have the MAIN EVENT. He just seems like a really nice guy and has the BEST VOICE EVER. He is definetly my idol and I want to go to Australia to see him so bad. Waaaah re: Anthony Warlow

I'm here, I'm here! Dammit, a thread about Anthony Warlow and I came in late!! re: Anthony Warlow

AbsolutKnight, he sang Anthem on his first CD, "Centre Stage". Just like almost everything he's done, it was incredible.

And also, welcome to the board! Updated On: 10/8/04 at 10:39 AM

Soliloquy is from 'Carousel'. That is also on Centre Stage. Of his solo albums, I think Centre Stage is the best... He did Anthem, Soliloquy, Johanna (Sweeney Todd), among others.

Edit: okay, I'm just going to go ahead and list it:
Music of the Night, Easy to Love, Luck Be a Lady, Somewhere, This Nearly Was Mine, I Am What I am, Anthem, Bring Him Home, You're Nothing Without Me, The Impossible Dream, Johanna, The Colours of My Life, Soliloquy.

Like I said, this is my favorite among his solo CDs re: Anthony Warlow Updated On: 10/8/04 at 11:31 AM

The man is the current best musical theatre performer in the world (IMHO)!!! jo, is your Main Event DVD a Region 1 DVD? Or regionless? It's the only DVD of his that I don't have! The Patience DVD is really quite good (though my wife HATES G & S's music). Back in the Swing is just pure bliss from the first track to the last and Centre Stage and On the Boards have great tracks on them as well. Midnight Dreaming has a few duds that don't really showcase Warlow's voice the way I would have liked, but If I loved You absolutely rocks my face off!! Also there's kind of a craptastic version of Warlow singing Gethsemane live posted online if anyone's interested. I'll post the link
here ya go:

Word. Word, indeed.

You might also want to try whammo.com.au. I've never bought a Warlow album from them, but I've bought other Aussie CDs, and I've found them to be VERY reasonbly priced, and QUICK. I've gotten CDs from them quicker than I have from domestic retailers!

I occasionally see his CDs on e-bay for reasonable prices.

Don't forget the Aussie recording of "The Secret Garden". Anthony's duet with Philip Quast on "Lily's Eyes" is brilliant.
