Hey,
I have an amazing professor who has inspired me a lot and totally has me interested in dramaturgy. I was wondering if any of you are or have worked as dramaturgs and your experiences with it.
I think I might apply for an internship next semester as the artistic intern at the Zachary Scott Theatre here in Austin.

It helps to know another language. Maybe French or Russian to bring out the subtle intricacies of the non-English works.

If you can swing it, go to the Passion Play in Oberammergau Germany. I think the next one is in 2010. Interesting experience. I went to the one in 2000.
2000 was the last time I sprechened mein Deutsch. I stopped when I went to Berlin and was trying to find Marlene Dietrich's grave. I asked a woman "Wo ist Marlene Dietrich?" and the woman pointed toward the sky.

I've been dramaturg for several plays through the years -- rewriting, restructuring, sometimes minor, sometimes wholesale revisions. My track record is very good -- two of the plays went on to win competitions, receive large cash awards and get produced.
Wow!Margo, will you please tell us more about your plays?
