Whatever, Rath. My Mother and Aunt are planning a trip to London next Spring and I told them this was a possibility.They were so excited at the prospect. I was asking for them, but of course, for some reason you have to imply that I have some "agenda", whatever the hell that means. And you wonder why people can't stand you.
Please, if anyone hears anything let us know. Thanks.

Rath, I only know of two people who can't stand you and not too many people think very highly of them either.

I would love to see Patti's take on Mama Rose. How old is she?

PS: Rath- The idea that you are looking for hidden agendas on a broadway message board is a little juvenile, don't you think? At what point did this board go from a broadway-discussion-board to the secret files of the Bush administration? Just admit you were only interested in causing a ruccus, and we can all go back to discussing the topic you disrespected and interrupted. Thank you, hope all is well :)

Sorry, Taboo, but clearly you don't know the history here, and the fact that Sueleen brought up Yonkers confirms that it is agenda-filled.

Anyway, like I said, I haven't heard anything new, and Tom would know at least as much, if not more, than I.

If Arthur Laurents is behind it, Patti DEFINITELY cannot do Gypsy! If there's one, u better hope that it's nothing to do with Arthur.

No... she was officially banned in the 1989 production by Arthur and he casted Tyne Dale instead. In 2003, Sam Mendes wanted Patti to do it, but Arthur banned the idea and wanted Bernadette Peters to do it. When Patti did Gypsy in R. Festival, Arthur refused to go to watch it. This is confirmed news for at least 10 years and community know what's happening...

The 2003 production was always Peters - that had been in the works for many years. Mendes came in late to the party, and wanted LuPone, but it was always a Peters vehicle.

Since Ravinia, Laurents has changed his tune.

With Patti now set to do The Rink in the West End (with hopes of New York transfer,) I think her doing Gypsy there has been shelved (at least temporarily.)
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

An official announcement about The Rink hasn't been made yet, but the director of the Ambassador Theater Group (who is producing it) confirmed to the press this weekend that they are in negotiations with Patti and John Doyle.
