Alright, before you read this thread I am going to say thank you in advance for taking the time to read it.
Here's my deal: I am a junior in high school looking for a program in theatre training over the summer.
Skills:
Acting=my strong suit and the one I feeel most comfortable about.
Voice=OK. I mean I get the leads in the musicals but I'm not as good as lot of people out there. I want to go somewhere where I can really improve but where I won't be uncomfortable b/c I haven't been training since I was 2.
Dance=I could do with or without dance. I have some tap training.
Ok so in short, I want a program for actors that focuses on improving the voice for singing roles, so I can be versatile.
Ok, whew, that's it. Any ideas for me??
Thanks in advance,
Broadway Style

-Ann Reinking’s Broadway Theatre Project is amazing...
-You could also try some summer programs at NYU and other colleges (particularly ones you are interested in)
-Performing arts camps: stagedoor manor, french woods, etc. there are plenty of people on these boards to verify and suggest camps like these...

Instead of going for an actual program(which you habe to pay for) I would suggest doing LOTS of community theater (especially children's theatre)
The theater I work at does 9 shows a summer(10 weeks) and I was in all of them this past year.
You learn a heck of a lot, FAST!

I also don't hear much on this site about Walnut Hill. I went there one summer and they were really great in that over the six weeks you get to be in one play and two musicals. They also have classes during the day between rehearsals, so you could take acting with teachers from BoCo and musical theater singing with a pianist the city (who by the way told me wAYY early on that Wicked was happening). Nice place near Boston for a different feel of Broadway musical theaterness. Nice to get away from New York everyone in a while.
Circle in the Square Summer Program is also a nice choice for those who can either live in the city or are close enough to transport. I've heard people as young as 15 doing it and getting a lot out of it, especially the atmosphere.
Being that you are junior, you also have some time to apply to Cherubs, Northwestern's program. Only clincher to this deal is that you need matchable grades to get into this program I believe (top ranking academic actresses got into it in my grade rather than me with more impressive resume).
See my other posts around about Stagedoor...for the third time today --> you need to go there more than one summer or session to get the full experience and benefit.
That's my two cents. Hope that helps....

Thanks! I am going to check into all of those...
As far as having the grades for the Northwestern program...luckily I do!
