Any news on LEGALLY BLONDE/YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN?

It's been a while since I've heard any news about these two upcoming shows.
I did hear that Laura Bell Bundy was going to be the next actress to portray Elle Woods in the workshop of the show. And now that Jerry Mitchell is no longer part of the HAIRSPRAY movie, I would assume that this is now at the top of his pile. Did the recent workshop happen?
Same for Mel Brooks. I more than understand that the recent death of his wife would set back his project. But, the most recent news I read on this project is that Brooks and Meehan had recently completed the first act of the show. I haven't heard anything about workshops or anything like that...besides the fact that Kristin Chenoweth is being sought for Madeline Kahn's role. I'm guessing THE PRODUCERS movie was halting the project for Brooks.
Has anyone heard recent news about either of these shows?

yeah here's the latest news.
Young frankenstein shouldn't be done and Legally blonde, when done, will be hillarious with great songs.

Last I heard, Brooks was waiting to see if he could use "putting on the Ritz" in the stage show. I heard that he wasn't going to go through with it, unless he coudl use that song.

Posted: 9/26/05 at 3:48pmGeez- why do these producers always hire the same people over and over again? Don't they realize that there are hundreds of thousands of great talented people who could play these roles (and I'm not just talking "unknowns")...why Why WHY go with bland Matthew Broderick when he could have any number of wonderful men in that role?????

Personally...I think Robin Williams would make a great Doctor Frankenstein.
Getting him to sign a year-long contract...impossible.

Because, as the saying goes... "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
Broderick and Chenoweth sell tickets. They also happen to be terrific choices for those roles.
Mel Brooks has used Gene Wilder in several films (Producers, Frankenstein and Blazing Saddles). Why would he want to switch gears here on Broadway, instead of using someone who understands his humor and can guarantee business?
Broadway is too risky.
I would personally like to add Marc Kudisch as the Monster and Donna Murphy as Frau Blucher!

"Young Frankenstein" is one of my favorite movies. Very excited at the possibility of it becoming a stage show.
Matthew Broderick as the lead? God, I hope not. He's totally wrong for that role.

And it's off for a night with the boys'
'Abby someone.
Abby someone?
Yes, Abby Normal'
'Taffeta, Darling'
Taffeta, Sweetheart.

Donna Murphy as Frau Blucher would be brilliant.
Of course for the most part Donna Murphy would be Frau AWOL.
