The exciting variable in the decision process for next year's season is the presence of Paul Gemignani as muscial director.
His tastes are very different from Rob Fisher's, and I think Jack Viertel is going to want him to make his mark in his first season.
Having had my all-time wish list satisfied with The Apple Tree and Out of This World, I will put my good wishes behind Dollypop's Dear World, MEF's It's a Bird... and Michael Bennett's Golden Apple.
But Gemignani will need at least one sure-fire audience pleaser to start with a bang.
Nothing against the young stars and up-and comers who have so beautifully performed in recent seasons, but to get people excited Gemingnani also needs a few BIG stars in the mix: Bernadette, Nathan, Stokes, Kristin, Mandy, Garber, Sutton, etc.
One of the most tantalizing "almosts" of ENCORES was to have Reba in THE PAJAMA GAME to reunite her with her ANNIE GET YOUR GUN co-star Brent Barrett. She wasn't available, so they went with the excellent Karen Ziemba instead. Frankly, I would have waited till Reba would have been available.
My choices? Hmmm. PANAMA HATTIE, A LADY SAYS YES, FLAHOOLEY.
(or THE GAY LIFE, WHOLESALE and HOLD ON TO YOUR HATS)
"A Lady Says Yes"?
I LOVE it when Master stumps me...
Hi there PalJoey!
I was a big fan of Rob Fisher and his Coffee Club orchestra. How different is Paul from Rob and what direction do you think he'll take when choosing shows for Encores?

Paul is not a stranger to Encores. He did "Do Re Mi" at Encores.
I just wonder whether Paul will be able to give it his full attention. He is very much in demand and I wonder if he'll get bored with doing Encores.
