While it seems that Disney owns the "animated to stage" crown(tiara), I saw the Ahrens-Flaherty musical Anastasia again recently and think that could transfer to the stage with the usual amount of rewrites and pre-production. The score and songs are very good, there are showstoppers, like St. Petersburg and all the Paris songs, the Anya and Dimitri romance is very Disney-like, it even has a cute puppy and a funny bat for the kiddies. I also think how great it was to hear Angela Lansbury, Bernadette Peters, Andrea Martin, Hank Azaria among an all-star vocal cast. I can't remember them all, the girl singing Anya is very good; maybe even Kelsey Grammar as the bad guy. I think this would have played better on Broadway than Doctor Zhivago.
A stage version premieres next season at Hartford Stage to be directed by Darko Tresnjak. In June, there was a workshop featuring Elena Shaddow and Ramin Karimloo.

Apparently, you are not aware of the stage adaptation in the works right now that'll be trying out at Hartford Stage next year with a book by Terrence McNally and Darko Tresnjak at the helm...
More like Anesthesia.

Isn't there already like 3 threads about this?
Geez, didn't mean to ruffle any feathers! I just didn't remember and when I get a little time to read some of the boards I don't really go back months to see what people were saying 2 or 3 months ago. I'm glad it seems to be happening anyway.
