re: Any word on casting for Shakespeare In The Park's Romeo and Juliet?

Oscar Issac is playing Romeo (He was Proteus in Two Gents a couple of summers ago) and Lauren Ambrose is playing Juliet. Anika was up for it, I wanted her to get it, but it is what it is. This came from a reliable source, but I don't know when they are going to announce it.
I think I'll try . . . defying gravity.

Every morning I run by the theatre in Central Park. Today was so wonderful I couldn't help but think of summer. When I got home, I did a search at The Public to see if anything had been announced but couldn't find the summer's shows. Can someone point me to a link? How did you know ROMEO AND JULIET was slated? Thanks!

I'm psyched at the thought of Lauren Ambrose, but Oscar Isaac was dreadful in TWO GENTS.
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body

It's official.

Lauren Ambrose, the "Six Feet Under" star who made her Broadway debut in Awake and Sing! last year, will star with Oscar Isaac in the title roles of the Public Theater's upcoming Romeo and Juliet.

As previously announced, Michael Greif (Grey Gardens, Rent) will direct the production of Shakespeare's classic romantic tragedy, which will run from June 5th through July 8th at the Delacorte Theatre in Central Park. Romeo and Juliet is, of course, the tale of two star-crossed lovers from feuding families.

"I have also met him in person, and I find him to be quite funny actually. Arrogant and often misinformed, but still funny."
